You push the lock button right (towards the lock) gently. Shine a light on the right side of each number. As you scroll, the correct combo will have indentations on the black bar beneath the numbers on either side of the correct number. As you press on the lock release button, it'll look like a bar under the numbers as each number is correct. (See the 5 in my picture).Kiddo loves it. Very glad to have been able to unlock it for her when she forgot the combo. The diamond topped pen and bracelet were big hits as well!

This diary is a favorite in our household for my daughter! She thinks it’s cool to have number locks, and I like it because she always seems to lose the keys for the lock/key type diary. This eliminates that stress. Also, with this diary you “can’t open it up†(even when locked) and see what the person has wrote. She likes it’s more secretive and only she can access whatever she has drawn/wrote. It gives her a safe space to express her thoughts and feelings. We have now bought 3 of these for her. The quality can’t be beat for the price. Plus, it comes with cute accessories as an added bonus!

My daughter got this for Christmas, it was her absolute favorite gift! But she forgot the code two days later. The site under the Q&A section helped me crack it! https://jmp.sh/LIwxdRJjShine a bright flashlight directly at the numbers and look underneath the gear for notches, not the sides of the gear, below it. So relieved this worked! This is a beautiful diary!

My daughter loves this journal set but she wasn't able to unlock it after just a few uses. We followed the instructions back to the original code 000, but it seemed to be broken/jammed. Thankfully, customer service was very responsive and issued a replacement right away with fast shipping. She can't wait to try the next one. For the jammed one, we'll cut the strap and she'll still get to enjoy her journal book either way.

We purchased this journal for our daughter, but as soon as she reset the code, it was locked tight. She knew the code but it would not open. We tried to find the notches for unlocking, but we're unsuccessful. Our other two kids have similar journals, so this is something we've done several times before with success, but not with this journal. We requested a refund and they shipped out a replacement. This one has the same issue. We watched her create the new code, but it will not open. It's very cute and sparkly, and it comes with fun accessories, but the lock is unfortunately junk. We will be returning and buying a different brand.
