For the money it does a good job, and comes with a spare battery.

Does its job but is slow compared to others. Fair for the price.

I'm enjoying the thermometer for testing my bread, meat and certain loose leaf teas for health benefits. Certain don't use boiling water and this allows me to get the necessary nutrients. That being said the thermometer gradually shows temperature when your checking meat or bread, but it's a good feature for the tea. When I say gradually I don't mean that it takes minutes but could take around 10-20 seconds. Item is not cheaply made and I believe will last awhile.

As someone who takes pride in cooking and achieving perfect meat doneness, the meat thermometer has been an absolute game-changer in my kitchen. This gadget might seem a little odd at first, but its accuracy in gauging the internal temperature of meat has been incredibly helpful. No more guesswork or anxieties about whether my meat is undercooked or overdone! This tool has empowered me to cook various meats—be it steak, chicken, or roasts—with precision, ensuring they're cooked to perfection every time. Its straightforward usability and reliable readings have become indispensable, elevating my culinary skills and making the entire cooking process more enjoyable.

Overall, this is working fine for us now but it is not an instant read like the title claims. Its takes a while for it to read the temperature. The only reason I went with this model over the bending ones is because we recent had a bending one and after lots of use in the past year it broke off of the metal piece so I thought well this one doesn't bend so it should be better. I wanted something to read the temperature right away not let it cool and then take the temperature. Spend a few more dollars on a different brand, you'll be happier with that! Otherwise the product works fine.

What I like most about this reader is that you can tell when it's running to catch up with the current temp (it jumps numbers by a lot) and when it's just following the temperature as it does progressional changes (so, more like a side-by-side pace). When I notice it's only jumping by 1-2 degrees, at that point either it's ready (if it reached the temp you wanted) or you get a ballpark idea of how much more time it needs. While I'd wish it had a way of staying still by itself (while it catches up, depending on what you're cooking, it may take a bit) but that's a minimal aspect of it and mainly a wish from someone who likes to keep moving when in the kitchen. I often worry the top of it is a little too heavy for it to actually stand so I try not to tempt gravity with that.All-in-all, it's good for its intended use.
