Great single item for measuring component values. Read the supplied instruction sheet.Found that it was very accurate and good at determining what kind of component was being measured.

I love that it creates over 25 Volts to test and measure diodes, primarily measuring breakover diodes, often called Zener diodes, and to catalog Germanium, silicone and hot carrier diodes. One reviewer {here} complained that there is no way to turn it off except to let it time itself off, (about 10 minutes) but the manual clearly says: hold the [Func.] button for two seconds to turn it off, I always count to three before it shuts off. It is easy to use and to hold and control and I have badly damaged hands. Ron W4BIN

This is an excellent meter/tester especially for the price. It's designed for easy one hand operation and is the only thing I have been able to use successfully for determining actual capacitance values of SMD chip capacitors. Overall accuracy is superb. Additional pairs of leads can be attached for standard connectivity testing and measurement. I love the handy case that comes with it, I can throw it in my bag and not worry about damage or loss of leads or tips.

Nothing really wrong, but I have found that I'd rather spend a few minutes finding my multimeter rather than using this. If I worked more on surface mount devices rather than antique radios, it might be more useful. I like that it measures capacitance, but I wish it wouild open wider for measuring larger components. Yes, I can use the supplied leads, but then what's the point of having this rather than a cheap meter?

I wanted this strictly for measuring ceramic SMD capacitors and resistors by themselves. The readings were as close as it could get. For instance, I measured a 10nf ceramic capacitor and it read up 9.7~nf. A lot better to handle the SMD component on a microscopic scale than my regular multimeter. Also, at a decent price, this SMD tester would be great for regular work, a budget tool to get used to until anyone advances to a much better, yet expensive, SMD tester. The body of the SMD tester when handled for measuring or testing components or circuits is decently lightweight. I try my best measuring/testing the circuit while this device is in the center of gravity and applying my fingers against the leads towards the component for a reading. However, I try not to apply too much pressure to prevent the ceramic capacitor from flying away from me as I have to consistently keep the appropriate tension on the component while it navigates an appropriate reading. Moreover, this device would help me a lot better if it had an Off switch. Moreover, I wished the lead tweezers at the points were more precise and a little more thinner, but it's as decent as it is.It all boils down if you want to value this device. It's up to you.
