I wanted to give needle felting a try after watching a simple walkthrough on youtube, so I was glad to see this kind of kit on amazon for such a cheap price! Over all, the project took me between 1.5 and 2 hours, probably. It helped that I watched a few instruction videos beforehand (I learn best that way)The instructions were very clear and straight forward! The only part that totally confused me was the instructions on threading the eyes. I read it over and over again until I just said "forget it" and used some plastic eyes I had on hand for another project. The embroidery on the back was a bit confusing, too, but I didn't look too deeply into it since I was going to use it as a pin cushion anyway. I skipped that step. (Threading is the kind of thing I normally need a video tutorial for, though, so I can't say it'll be as confusing for everyone)I ended up accidentally not using all of the wool, and my hedgehog was a lot longer than it was tall, but as my mom said, I just "made it my own", and I'm still very happy with it! I use it as a pin cushion (I saw another reviewer did, too!)Although this isn't worth taking away a star, I do wish the package listed somewhere exactly how much wool was included, so I had reference when buying more wool online.

This little kit was an excellent introduction to needle felting. I had never picked up a felting needle before, but became interested after seeing the many adorable items on the internet (baby llama anyone??) I'm somewhat crafty but had no idea where to begin. This kit truly contains everything needed, including instructions. I did look at a couple of youtube videos on needle felting, only because it does take a long time for the wool to become felt, so I wanted to make sure I was doing it right. It took about 3 to 4 hours total for the project. The resulting penguin figurine is so cute! Unfortunately, my dog liked it too and immediately chewed off the penguin's wings and tail. Luckily they are easy to reattach. My dog and cat were both very interested in the wool while I was working with it, so I recommend keeping it out of reach. I also recommend the rubber thimbles you can buy separately, because I stabbed my fingers several times and they're not joking when they say the needle is sharp.

This was a gift for my mom since I thought she would appreciate something crafty to do in her free time. She really liked it and enjoyed trying out felting for the first time. The end product was really cute (she sent me a photo and it looks just like the one on the package!) and I'm planning on getting her a more advanced felting kit for her birthday.The one little issue she had was that the needle broke when she was about halfway done with it, but she said it was probably because she was using it wrong and not because of any actual issues with the needle itself. She bought a new needle and finished it the next week.Otherwise, I think this is a really great product! It's a fun and simple project for just about anyone and the end product is quite cute. After seeing my mom make it, I'm thinking of giving it a try myself!

Great crafting project. This was my first experience felting and it was a bit hit or miss. I wish the instructions were a bit more detailed. I would suggest watching the YouTube videos of this kit and reading Gingerbreadforest's 12/04/2012 and Kindle Customer's 12/20/2013 Amazon reviews of this kit. More helpful hints: the kit's wool is very forgiving. I was able to remove or add wool at will, plus hide mistakes. I would suggest playing with the wool as you go to see what you can do with it. For the dog's spots, you can make the brown wool edges a bit fuzzy, blending it into the white wool (more realistic for me) or more defined for a clearer shape. I used toothpicks to hold the wool down for needling the spots, eyes, nose, and tail enabling me to use both hands to needle and hold the dog. This makes it much easier for small work. Also, Michael's sells this same kit for $30.00, Amazon's is almost half the cost.

I bought a couple of these Needle Felting animals as stocking stuffers for others. I bought Sam for myself. I have never Needle Felted before and the idea of creating a little adorable friend just by stabbing some wool repeatedly was irresistible. I have to give Sam 5 stars. His instructions were easy to follow and I would say his overall assembly was therapeutic. I did break his needle by stabbing in then turning sideways. Please note: stabbing should only be done by going out the exact same way you went in. It sounds easy enough, but the temptation to twist and turn is real and should be avoided...so should stabbing cute little animals in general. (Unfortunately, you have to say that kind of thing out loud these days.) On a happier note, Sam is cute and will make you smile. Go buy a Sam.

This was my 3rd felting project and I found this kit frustrating. The needle is unlike any other I've worked with; it has a flat side and the barbs were ineffective; I switched to another needle from another kit. The brown wool is very rough, I have no idea if it's sheep wool or goat or something else. I thought the silicone molds might be helpful, but no matter how much I stabbed, I could not get the wool to shape into the mold and ended up using a different method. The end result was okay, but in my opinion it could have been obtained in an easier way without the silicone molds and with better wool. I do not feel it's worth the money. I definitely would not recommend this to a beginner.

My daughter, 13 years old, loved creating this felt llama. It was her first felt project and she did it brilliantly, it's not too difficult. It arrived within a few days and we can highly recommend it.

I already needle felt but this was a fun new way to do it! Would be a greater starter kit too for first timers!
