These are good strong 1/4" caps that I get to stretch to 5/16" with some force. Once on I had no concerns about it coming off.

Used these to cover the screw ends on our rocking chairs. Worked and looked good. I did have to glue them.

I added to some alignment rods .. works i tossed them in hot water and pushed them on

There are several places in my van where open ends of bolts stick out, and where I occasionally scratch my hand while putting things away. I always curse these little demons, but now I have done something about them. These caps cover the sharp ends, making them blunt and safe. No more scratches! No more cursing!
