Whoever designed the Virbaroo wheelchair for dogs must have put a lot of thought into it. The device was very easy to assemble after watching the “Wheelchair Installation Tutorial†video on the Amazon listing page. The wheelchair came with printed instructions however the video included directions on tightening the set screws in the frame once the device is adjusted properly for its intended canine occupant which were not in the printed instructions. The harness is in two separate pieces, one for the pet's front legs and another for its hindquarters. The range of adjustment is phenomenal and no tools are required to assemble and/or adjust the wheelchair except for an allen key to tighten the set screws. Adjusting the device is easy enough, push down on a detent button and slide the tube in or out of the frame, once the detent pops up through a hole in the frame you can push it again and slide the tunbe more of if it's in the intended location just leave it. Even though the Extra Small I ordered is supposed to fit dogs from 11 to 17.6 pounds on a whim I flipped the frame over just to see and it worked on my 4.5 pound chihuahua Bella as well as the dog I bought it for, our 12 pound chihuahua Story. However if you try using the Extra Small model for a dog smaller than 11 pounds be aware that it is a little more difficult to attach the rear harness to the frame. I included a picture of the wheelchair with the frame flipped over just to illustrate just how versatile the Virbaroo dog wheelchair actually is. I also have included a photo of the intended occupant of the wheelchair, Story, resting after almost two hours of playing with the other pets.If your dog is like mine, it won't be too accommodating the first few times they are put in the wheelchair and even though she's a small dog it required an extra set of hands to put her in the device for the first two days. But with patience and words of encouragement we succeeded in acclimating our dog to the wheelchair. One thing I discovered that made it much easier to put our pet in the wheelchair was to leave the front harness piece connected to the wheelchair frame and attach it to the dog rather than attaching the harness to the dog and then attach the harness to the frame. This product comes with a strap that goes under the pet's stomach and attaches to the frame but I didn't use it for our dog but it's there if you need it. The wheelchair also has straps to hold the hind leg(s) of the pet off the ground but again I never used them as our dog resisted any effort to put her in them and she held her leg off the ground quite well on her own but I can see where a dog suffering paralysis would need these straps. It took a couple of days for our dog to learn how to navigate in the wheelchair, quickly learning to make wide turns around furniture and doorways. When we let our pets out in a pen to do their business our dog got hung up on the fence once but learned to avoid obstacles quickly. It should go without saying but you should keep an eye on your pet while its in the wheelchair because they might get stuck on something or get tired where you need to take them out of the device to rest as our dog would not lie down wile strapped to the wheelchair. For the first few days I left Story in the dog wheelchair for an hour or so and then took her out to see if she wanted to rest or take a nap. We use one of those pet fountains that filter our pets drinking water and stands about 6 inches off the ground and our dog had no problem getting a drink while attached to the wheelchair so I can't say whether a pet could reach a typical water bowl located on the floor. I would recommend this product for any dog that has pulled a muscle or ruptured a tendon in their rear legs. Just remember to have some patience with your fur baby until they get used to the wheelchair. It's been 10 days of using her wheelchair and now Story realizes how the device helps her ambulate and seems to enjoy using it.

Even though I measured my dog before buying the wheelchair, it didn’t fit. It’s too big and bulky for older or weak dogs to use. It’s also very hard to put the dog into, you almost need two people. If I dog needs a wheelchair it usually means the back legs have no function. It’s very hard to hold a dog up, put on two different harnesses, and then lock the harness into the wheelchair. Not a well thought out design. I wouldn’t recommend to anyone

Great product and very easy to assemble. Fits shorter dogs well and gives them the ease of mobility they are needing.

This is a great idea but I don't recommend it for an older dog. Our dog was 15 years old when she couldn't really use her back legs anymore so we got this hoping that it would help her go to the bathroom but her front legs couldn't hold her up either. I will say that it worked well it was a great value for the money very well made, the sizing was accurate but our girl was just too old.

Flimsy, dog continuously walked backwards. Had a lot of trouble moving forward. It was relatively easy to put him in. But at the end of the day, inefficient.

It took 5 minutes to assemble and a few minutes to adjust straps. He adjusted quickly to how it moves. Simple to set dog into, just 2 places to snap the straps shut. To remove him you just unsnap those 2 straps and lift out. Really a nice product at a decent price
