It was interesting to read some older reviews - some talked about poor hardware - perhaps it's changed over time, but I thought the screws that came with this were excellent. They were torx and the kit included the bit. So no complaints there. The metal is heavy and finished well, and the multitude of punch outs was great.I agree with one review that they should include some short screws to use for getting it positioned, but I managed fine. When I finally got it in place and adjusted it did just what I wanted so no complaints. But unless you have a door and frame that exactly meet whatever they used as a model, be prepared for a fair amount of effort. Here are some examples:They say to pre-drill the holes - but I don't have a 3" 9/64 bit. I have all kinds of drill bits, but none at that diameter is 3". However, the good news is the torx screws they provide are made similar to spax construction screws with a cutting edge at the end. But I need to use an impact driver to get them in. So most likely you need either a very long drill bit to pre-drill or an impact driver (or a lot of strength and patience). Now, the edge of the jamb shield that faces inward is curved, which looks nicer and provides a guide for the door edge - but in my case, the trim pushed that curved part out, preventing the shield from laying flat, and thus preventing closing the door. Solution? Either plane down the trim (what I did) or grind off the edge of the shield. Finally, when inserted into the area under the weather stripping, the openings for the latch and lock bolts weren't quite aligned. So I needed to use a dremel with a grinding bit to widen the opening. So in summary - in addition to following the directions, I needed an impact driver, a dremel grinder and some planing (shoulder plane was perfect if you happen to have one). Now -- none of this surprised me -- I fully expected to have to do some of this. My house has settled and the door jamb is no longer quite square. So you might not have to plane or grind the opening. But you'll still need a way to get a 3" screw into the framing. All told, the installation took me about 3 hours. Pretty much what I expected.Oh - and I also give them credit - if you buy the mini kit, which doesn't include hinge shields, they give you extra 3" screws you can use to replace some of the short ones in your hinges. I give them a lot of points for that. Not because screws cost a fortune - but because they're helping you out even though you didn't get the max kits. All in all, even though it's pricey for what it is, I'd still recommend the kit - just be ready for some extra work.

Solid well made product that was easy to install. The hinges are well engineered and made of solid stainless steel. I can sleep easy at night knowing that my two doors are secured with this product.

I bought a Door armor max and installed it with no issue on my front door with Schlage oversized electronic door lock. It was a standard metal door in a standard frame and I had the entire thing done in an hour. It would have installed quicker but I dont really know what I'm doing when it comes to stuff like this, so it always takes longer than it should at first. Also I had some serious issues with the specialty bit they supplied to drive in the large screws. Thats one of the things I took a half star off for. The bit lasted 3 screws, then warped in a spiral. After that I decided to pre drill the screw holes. Luckily I had an extra bit that was the same size in my garage and I was able to finish the door.My first impression was it install easy, the bit supplied sucked and the metal seemed bendy. Still theres no doubt it reinforced my door so I went on amazon to buy 3 more. What I ended up doing was buying another Max, 1 mini, and 1 door reinforcement product from another company. It was less than half price and looked very similar to the door armor mini.I left a review for that kit on amazon yesterday. It was indeed cheaper and the metal looked 50% thicker than the door armor kits, but the sizing was weird. I tried the other 3 doors that I wanted to armor up and each would have taken modifications that I'm just not willing to do. I set that other kit into the corner. The day after that kit arrived my door armor mini was delivered. I just installed that on my side door. The mini worked perfectly because I really had no space to install hinge jambs anyways. I had that full kit installed AND I screwed in 4" screws in all the hinges in less than a half hour (I do learn as I go along). I didnt have to make any door modifications (standard door, oversized deadbolt), it went quick and smooth. My only complaint was that little bit they supplied. I learned my lesson after last time and I used a sharpie to mark holes and pre drilled each and every hole. Still I only made it about half way through the screws before I had to use my old garage bit again.I'm still awaiting the 2nd max I ordered but I dont anticipate any issues with it. I have to wonder about the special bit and the screws with the oddly shaped screw hole. At first I thought that it was oddly shaped so that the screws wouldn't be stolen (like lug nut locks or something). Then I realized I could only be so lucky as to have a burger break my door down and then spend a twenty minutes taking the screws out of the door to steal my $90 reinforcement kit. No, I dont think thats the reason. So I have to wonder, whats up with the funky screws and the weird weak bit. I have dozens of phillips head bits, none of them ever twisted like that bit. I've driven 4" screws into wood with a phatty phillips head bit. I just dont understand. Had I not been able to find a similar size star bit in my garage I would have had to stop installation and this review it certainly read more angry.Anyways, Its a good kit. Worth the elevated price over the competition since it fits each of my doors and the competitions one didnt. Just make sure to drill out all your holes and maybe purchase a selection of star bits if / when yours twists. I plan on buying 1 last mini kit for my final door.

I had a handyman install this for me because I don't have the skills or the tools to do it myself. They installed easily and the doors (I installed on two doors) both shut easily. I have no issues with the doors not aligning or difficulty in closing them. I have smart deadbolts on both doors and the deadbolts lock easily without me having to push on the doors to get them to align so the bolt can slide through. You can tell this is a very study and durable product. Even the handy man, who is a general contractor, said that there is no way anyone would be able to kick the door in.Perfect. Being a single female living alone, that's exactly what I need.

First, one has to understand that no door security is going to always keep the bad guys out. The purpose of a device like this is to buy time and hopefully frustrate an illegal entry into finding an easier victim. This kit is easy to install IF - and that's a big if - your door has adequate clearance as stated in the product information online. Of the five doors we installed these on, only one was textbook perfect for clearance. The other four doors we believe were installed before the invention of the straight-edge and level. Our door frames were far easier to adjust than the doors themselves, by simply removing the trim molding and adding some longer screws to draw the door jamb wider. Then put the trim back on and touch up the paint. All things considered, a very practical solution for a common problem. Don't forget to beef up the screws on the hinge side of the door too.

Difficult to install - still having some issues with smart door lock unlatching.
