This was exactly what we needed! Keep in mind that you will have to glue the cover back on the motor (you have to pry it off to replace gear). I used a piece of metal that I drilled holes on each side to match the bolts that hold the motor in place and used it as a brace against the cover. Works like brand new! If your gear needs to be replaced I highly recommend purchasing this one. The price is wonderful compared to replacing the entire motor. Peggy Eshelman

I have only had this gear installed for a week now so at this point I can't say anything about how long it will last. It's made in China but looked good, was a tight fit on the shaft which is good and it weighted the same as the failed original, which lasted 12 years. They both, the old and the new, weighed exactly 16 grams. If it fails soon, I will followup on this review.

I read a ton of articles about the gears in these headlight motors and should have went with the metal gear instead, this one lasted only a few days before stripping just like the factory gear

I've never wrote a review but I had to on these gears. I had to replace both stock headlight gears within a week. Bought these. Since then it's almost a monthly occurrence they fail. I've installed these several times trying to save money on the brass gear. Do not buy this garbage. You'll be replacing these once a month if not more. Just installed another one tonight. It lasted 3 up and down cycles and is grinding on close. Did the quick 180 flip to use the other side of gear. It's grinding on both open and close. Upon taking these apart u can actually see they are made entirely too small and only the smallest part even touches your worm gear from the motor which is why they strip so easily. I implore you to NOT BUY THIS GEAR. I'm tired of repairing these and will buy the brass gear and be done with it. Says a lot about this company for running these gears for so long I'm sure they know they are not the stock size. If you compare your stock ones to these you will notice they are barely smaller. And that is why they fail.

Fit perfectly, installed yesterday and no more terrible noise. Amazing such a small part could make a big difference. BTW I removed a brass gear because it was not operating properly. I would not spend money on one of those type of gears.

After I installed them in my Firebird it stopped making that buzzing sound every time I closed the lights! I hated that noise! It was loud and annoying! Just make sure you have grease to apply to the gears when you install them and silicon to seal it in...it's an easy installation that you can do yourself :)
