Be sure to save all the old screws and old part until job is complete, be on alert for the old metal filler tube (neck) that part of the old assembly might be broken off like mine was, it is the inserted into the large outer rubber hose - the old hose was still fine after 20 years and never removed. I discovered the broken off end part when the new metal insert would not seat all the way. I managed to twist and pull it out with a needle nose pliers. Also the breather tube clip broke when I opened it, I did not try to use the new breather tube since I did not drop the tank or even jack up my truck - which is the only way to access the far end of the connection. I was able to remove and reuse the old clip off the rusty old fuel filler neck but a quality zip tie would have otherwise have worked as well.

I am a huge Dorman fanboy, but this is the first part from them I had reservations about. I was shocked how badly my original filler neck had rotted out so when I got this replacement and looked it over, I really wasn't all that thrilled about the finish. It just seemed like they could have painted it better - powder coat would have been really nice.I was doing Dorman tank straps at the same time so decided to re-paint both. Cleaned up with grease remover and laid out a nice thick coat of good heavy primer on this and the straps just to help them last a bit longer this time. Other than the finish it's a nice quality part with no other issues.

I have a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500HD with the 6.0 liter engine. Hose was formed correctly, however too long. I cut 3 inches off of the gas tank end and it fit like a glove.

Replacing my rusted fuel neck filler was a relatively easy task. It took around 15 to 20 minutes start to finish. It only requires the use of 2 tools that almost everybody has in their toolbox, a flat-head screwdriver to remove 2 hose clamps and a wrench to remove the bolts securing the fuel neck filler to the body of my 2000 GMC Serria 1500. There is no need to drop the gas tank, remove the truck bed or jack the vehicle off the ground. The metal portion of my fuel neck filler, right behind the filler port, was rusted so badly I could not add fuel to my truck. I ended up purchasing this fuelneck filler and hose combination. I removed 3 small bolts from behind the gas door on the outside of the truck, that hold the metal filler neck in place. I then loosened the 2 hose clamps an was able to easily separate the outer and inner hoses from the rused filler neck. I next pulled the hose from the gas tank. I discarded, the rusted fuelneck and inner hose. Next I put the filler neck inplace near the fuel door, slipped the inner hose into the outer hose (kept from earlier) and then into gas tank, tightened the hose clamps on the gas tank and to the fuel neck filler and last secured the fuelneck filler to the body of the truck with the three bolts.I did not have to jack up the truck, remove the gas tank or remove the truck bed. I was as able to reach up and loosen and tighten the hose clamps at both ends by feel alone. I took a picture to use as a reference since I could not see the top of the gas tank.

This product fit perfectly for my 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The worst part is getting the old stuff off in my case it was just the filler neck had rusted and had pin holes. You made need a 2inch screw clamps as well since the ones that are on there might be rusty. About 30min job and no need to jack anything up or hoist can easily be done right in your driveway good pair of safety glasses are a must sine all the dirt and debris are going hit ya right in the teeth. Good luck with your DYI

Pour reparer pick-up silverado 2003.
