The first switch I bought locally didn't work at all, so I returned it and decided to use Amazon because I know if there is a systemic issue they will get involved. In the last 2 weeks, I have purchased 3 switches from Amazon, all defective and here is the breakdown. Switch 1 worked, but the light stayed lit draining my battery. Switch 2 did the same thing. Switch 3 didn’t work at all. So out of 4 parts from Dorman, 2 didn’t work at all and the two that did, constantly drew on the battery instead of only lighting up when you use vehicle lightsThese are poorly made and are clearly not OEM. Unfortunately, there is no other choice on the market. I reached out to Dorman and they offered no help and when I requested help it was denied, because parts were not purchased directly from them. 4/4 defective parts is a concern, and I hope Amazon pull this part from their site and tracks Dorman issues and review to ensure consumers are not being cheated or ripped off.

A perfect fit for my 2010 vw beetle 2.5 automatic. You will need a trim tool to remove it from the door panel and there are YouTube videos to assist with the removal and installation. The only drawback as one person mentioned was the light staying on. I have a brand new battery in the car now so that slight drain is not a concern right now, but maybe 🤔 in the future. That's my only gripe with Dorman products is there seems to be some engineering quirk.

the switch light (which is only supposed to come on briefly when the switch is activated) will not turn off. this is not good for the car battery nor the life of the switch. While the switch does activate the gas cap cover, I would like to have a switch that works fully properly.

It works properly, however the light remains on all the time in compare with the original.
