I purchased this product along with the Dorman Cam Phasers and Cloyes Timing Kit to fix the rattling noise in my 5.4L engine. I had heard mixed reviews regarding this type of repair from some local "mechanics" but decided to go ahead and do it anyways. I Couldn't be happier....... If the job is done right and all the parts are replaced, the engine rattle caused by the cam phasers will go away. The valve timing issue my pickup had even caused what I thought was a transmission problem. My truck runs like the day I bought it now. Saved BIG $$$ over buying stock ford parts as well!

fixed my P0022 code, my 2004 f150 ran terrible, misfiring and no power, and it was fairly easy to put in, drivers side is alittle harder because of the power steering bracket but not bad, truck ran like brand new after that, got my power back

Great quality at half the price of parts stores. It's an easy install. You can watch the install on you tube. They do not come with the screw so you will have to use the existing one. The new solenoid hole for the screw is larger and the screw could fall out in your engine on the install. I used vice grips and crimped the hole just enough so the screw would not come out but could still be turned.

I am happy with the performance of the Dorman VVT solenoid. My issues with the cam phasors were finally resolved when I increased the viscosity of the engine oil from 5W-20 to 20W-40. The truck has over 100k miles and a history of oil sludging due to short runs and infrequent oil changes. I believe that because of engine wear even the new oil pump could not maintain sufficient oil pressure for the cam phasors (and VVT solenoid) to function correctly. It may also be worth noting that the oil pressure gauge on this truck is essentially useless as it is either in the mid-range (normal) or at zero (no oil pressure). This gauge will not show variations in oil pressure with hot and cold oil, nor with 5W-20 and 20W-40 engine oil.

The item did not come with the screw that you see in the picture. I tried using the old screw but the hole where the screw is was too big. Its hard trying to put that screw the part back on there with out dropping the screw in the motor. I just hope they check every product and make sure that the screw is on there. Other than that the product is really good.
