my 2007 Prius had a loud "chattering" noise in the front disc brakes. After inspecting the caliper it clear that the disk brake abutment shims were not doing their job by not holding the disc brake pads firmly enough. The result is that the pads rattled/chatter when going over bumps. I ordered this kit from Dorman to resolve the issue.After receiving this kit I removed the old shims and installed the Dorman parts. The problem was still there, just as bad as before. Because of this, i assumed the caliper mounting brackets were worn, so ordered and replaced those too, as well as new disc pads and a new hardware kit, just to be sure and do the job right.Never having seen these abutment shims before the Dorman kit, i was surprised to see the Bosch Hardware kit was different from the Dorman parts. The correct parts have four abutment shims, 2x of two different types. The different shims pair together, one set on the driver side, one for the passenger side. One of the shims has a doubled over "P" shaped piece, the other doesn't. The Dorman parts did NOT contain the shim with the P-shaped piece, but instead included 4x identical shims. WRONG! See my pictures above if you're curious.So instead of a $15 dollar repair, this turned into about $125 in brake pads/hardware/mounts which i didn't need because this Dorman kit was not right.Next time stick with the Bosch or Wagner parts for $2-3 more, and skip this garbage.
