Dorsal - The Pursuit of Innovation

Well, the truth is that if you want to surf, you will need a good deal of equipment. And this is where Dorsal comes in. A surfboard on its own though is insufficient: without fins fixed to the bottom it will have no stability on the wave face and slides uncontrollably. Fins are usually, though not always, detachable; most surfboards have between one and four of them, though the most common number is three. And it’s not only your board that must be prevented from slipping; special surfboard wax is applied regularly to the deck — or upper side of the surfboard — for traction, usually in combination with a grip pad positioned over the tail. Gone, meanwhile, are the days when a bad wipe-out meant a lengthy swim into shore to retrieve one’s board. A leash (leg-rope or “leggie”, as the Australians have it) strapped round the ankle and attached to the surfboard is now considered obligatory not only for the convenience’s sake but also, more importantly, for safety.

Dorsal is the surfer’s lifestyle and offers a variety of products and accessories:

  • Surfboard Fins
  • Pads, Racks and Straps
  • Changing surf mats and robes
  • Board-bags, Leashes and Accessories
  • Lifestyle - Hoodies, Tees and Mugs

Used to strap my paddleboard on top of my vehicle. Worked great! Very sturdy and plenty of length. Good price too. Definitely recommend.

These straps are long enough to accommodate either a kayak OR a canoe on top of your car. The buckles seem sturdy and the padded buckle protector keeps your car/boat from scratches. Compared to the Thule brand my gf uses, these straps seem thin -the webbing is way lighter and a looser weave. I don't think this really matters because the straps aren't undergoing that much tension. The biggest downside to a lighter strap is that after one season the tips are starting to fray. I will likely use an old knife heated over a flame to re-cauterize them. All in all, a good deal if you don't mind cauterizing the tips once in a while.

I've owned other straps before and these are my favorite ones. The reason why is simple. The technology used to hold the straps are going to be the same with many other companies. The gator style straps are relatively cheap and strong. The straps themselves are not going to change much from one manufacturer to another. perhaps the thickness may vary but the difference is likely to be inconsequential unless you're hauling something really heavy or had massive amounts of wind drag.I carry my board on my roof like everyone else and sometimes ill carry to or three. this strap works fine for that. Ive also used this to carry some rugs on my roof also. The reason i prefer these over other similar straps is a quarter cent difference. the little piece of nylon under the clamps. This time difference keeps me from scratching up my car overtime i go to tie and untie my boards. Yes i know that there are others that also have protection against that. I also like that my sea to summit straps have this feature. Theirs padding is better quality and looks nicer, but in my opinion that really isn't necessary or more beneficial than the simple strip of nylon.Great straps to tow around your board. i highly recommend it. i like the longer length of these (too much > not enough). if not these the sea to summit ones are also very nice.

I've been using these straps for around 7 months now, and I love them! They are very sturdy and durable, and the padding behind the metal piece offers a great layer of protection for my board. I use these to strap my 11 foot paddleboard to the roof rack of my small SUV, and they seem to do the job just fine! I opted to buy these before I bought an expensive paddleboard rack for my car, and I am so glad I did. For a fraction of the cost, these straps securely attach my board to my vehicle and are super easy to use. I would definitely recommend these to anyone looking for a cost-effective alternative to transport their SUP, and I will definitely buy more of these if my set ever wears out!

They work fine, but I only used them twice and I put the tail end Inside the car so they weren't beating around and yesterday I noticed the end are already fraying and hard to feed through. Disappointed they won't make it through the season.

These tie downs are great, they look and feel good. The buckles are made of a coated steel, the springs are strong on the buckles and when locked down onto the strap they left me feeling confident that they would remain tightly closed when transporting my kayak. Each strap is super long leaving plenty of excess for tying the loose end for extra security. The extra padding behind the buckle protects your canoe, kayak etc from scratches that could be caused by the buckles in transit. I am really pleased with the quality and length of these straps.

Nothing to dislike really - if you don't like the price don't buy otherwise you get what you pay for.

Great set. I'm using it to tie kayak to cross bars and it works perfect. I was concerned that kayak might move but when tied properly they hold perfect. I bought set of straps and pads and set works perfectly.

The straps are hugely long which is useful but there's much cheaper options out there which are just as good quality.
