My 4 year old miniature schnauzer is 11.5 lbs. I've owned this breed for 20+ years and do research on everything (food, medications, supplements, treats, health conditions, etc) so I'm an experienced and knowledgeable dog owner. My vet says my dog is one of the healthiest and well-cared for in his practice. I've never used bully sticks because I wasn't sure about their safety, but I decided to try them to see if they'd help clean tartar off my dog's teeth (brushing isn't doing a good enough job IMO). So I researched a LOT of brands, read lots of reviews on different sites and chose these from Downtown Pet Supply. Let me stress that all dogs are unique... different chewing styles and strengths, different reactions to food, different tastes and preferences. Here is why these bully sticks work for MY dog. They don't stink. I sometimes catch a "smokey" scent but I've put them right up to my nose and barely notice anything. They don't make a slimy mess. They do get slimy on the end being chewed but since that end stays in my dog's mouth it's ok. If she turns it around to the unchewed end I just give her the slimy end back and she chews on that, no problem. Since my dog has a beard, messy or stinky would be a deal breaker for me. She's chewed on the first stick 4 times for 30-60 min and is now down to a nub, so I'm fairly happy with how long they last. I give it to her and take it away, I don't leave it out. She's totally crazy about it so she'd probably chew on it all day until it was gone if I let her. Doing it for an hour or less 4 days in a row has not affected her stomach or poop quality at all. As much as I hate to waste any since they're expensive (but fairly reasonable in comparison to other brands), as soon as she stops holding the nub with her paws and starts chewing the whole piece in her mouth I'll throw it away. I don't want to risk any choking or stomach obstructions. The product photo shown on the Amazon page isn't what mine look like, see attached. I got the 6" pack of 5. I've attached pics to show size. They're consistent in length and thickness (which are both exactly what I was looking for). I'm very pleased with these. Since we just started using them it's yet to be determined if they'll help remove tartar on her teeth.

These are great treats that our big dogs love. We give one to the puppy when he needs to chew and we don’t want him to eat the couch. They last our grown Anatolians about 5 minutes. The puppy could chew on it for an hour or until it is stolen by someone. The drawback is the smell they stink. For the dogs it’s a good attractive stink for me it’s awful. Be aware of the smell. It should only be chewed on something that can be washed. We like to be around when they chew them just in case they were to choke. To us they have a urine type smell.

My dog likes these bully sticks. They last a long time, at least 30 minutes and my dog usually treats through them in 15 minutes or less. But, they literally smell like a barnyard. I couldn't figure out the poop smell in my house and then realized it was coming from the chew.

We have two large dogs and they love these chew sticks! They hear the package open and immediately sit and wait patiently for their sticks. Highly recommend for and chewer pups.

The last two orders for what should have been the 12 “ JUMBO EXTRA THICK Bully Sticks turned out to be 12†VERY SKINNY STICKS which my dogs can chew up very quickly. I have been buying this product for a long time but must say I’m not getting my moneys worth anymore and now will have to find another business person to do business with as this person or people are no longer giving the product as they claim. I feel robbed and cheated. The size and thickness of the original jumbo extra thick supreme bully sticks was wonderful. My large dogs need a bone like that to chew on and I was very satisfied when I first began purchasing them. In fact I was hoping I could order larger amounts to save a little more money but now I’ll have to go elsewhere to do this. My dogs fit and Arian had originally recommended these bones as they were safer than other forms of dog chew items I know she’s going to be disappointed too and will stop telling for customers about this particular company. It’s really too bad and I’d like to know what happened that made the quality of the product go down so suddenly. If this situation could be rectified I would be very happy and understanding if I knew that there is a logical reason for this and that from now on I would get the product promised. The right thing to do would be to send me the product I paid for, but since that is most unlikely I failed to see how this company can continue to keep its customers

This entire bag was definitely not for large dogs. I’ve bought this brand for years because they are thick, long lasting and great for aggressive chewers. This whole bag included thin, somewhat soft, flimsy bully sticks. Clearly not the same source or manufacturing that this company has used in the past. A big disappointment at a big cost as these are not cheap. Will try again in a month or so to see if sourcing has changed but this was a big let down.

These are my go-to for bully sticks! Other brands have a tendency to stretch them so much that they’re easy to chew through, but these can keep my pup (Pyrenees mix) busy for a solid 20-30 minutes, depending on the size of the stick. They’re quite stinky and can be a little pricey compared to other brands, but SO worth it because of how long they can last.
