Its really sturdy and great for travel or storage but it can't hold 24x36 rolled documents because of the way it is made. It needs a short cap and not a long barrel to get long documents in.

If you want something cheap for storage this is it. If you want something sturdy this is not the one to buy. I bought it because it looked sturdy and had a strap for carrying. I actually need to use the strap to secure the top and bottom together so I can't sling it over my back. I'd I don't use the strap to secure both ends together the top could slide off. There is no lid to screw on. What looks like a lid is actually the whole extension that slides into the bottom tube. Because the top tube slides into the bottom tube I would not trust it to be leak proof. If you dropped it the contents would be ok. If something heavy fell on it the contents may get bent. At the time I ordered this I was using a heavy cardboard mailing tube. The lid could easily come off if I didn't tape it, but I think it was more secure than this tube. Also, it ships from China so it will take a month to arrive.

First, it's NOT waterproof. Not even close. Second, the plastic is so flexible and cheap I can almost squeeze the tube's sides together using just my thumb and index finger. I would classify this tube as almost disposable, only it's not, because I paid $16 bucks for it! I'll probably return it. The small clips on the strap came bent, so I had to repair those. I didn't use plyers, I used my fingers, and I'm not a macho man - very cheap.The expandability of it is easy. So easy that if you were to swing the tube in the air, like a lightsaber, it would expand by itself. WUT!? I bought this thing to carry my maps in, not to battle Siths.

I found a set of blueprints that were over 50 years old. I wanted to present them to the new homeowner in a nice case. I am VERY pleased with this item that is expandable in terms of its length.

The package arrived a month early, and it came in perfect condition. The item looks exactly as pictured, and it is expandable as promised. My poster fits just right in this tube. I'm satisfied.
