The long shank is also ideal for reaching holes inaccessible with standard length taps. High-speed steel tools are good for most general purpose applications, offering a combination of hardness and toughness for wear resistance. Uncoated tools feature just the base substrate without any additional treatment or coatings and are suitable for a wide range of applications. Round with square end shank. Right-Hand cut tools have a cutting action that engages when they are run in a clockwise direction.

For those of you who complained this tap bit breaking on the first use and giving this item one star is because you don't know how to use a tap. I bought this bit and tap 3 bolt catch pin hole in the same day. Each time I used it, it cuts even better! The price is better than most seller and most companies. Works perfectly for my specific need. I highly recommend this.

I had to modify this to make it actually tap further by thinning the shaft extension otherwise I couldn't tap as far as was needed and that is beyond the cutter part of tap. I was hoping this would arrive and allow me to tap 5 inches and it wouldn't with out modification to the shaft. out of box the tap will stop at the end of the cutter. I made mine work though by thinning the extended shaft.

I don't like roll pins on AR lowers so I will use the appropriate tap drill and tap for the 6-32 pins that Aero Precision provides for their M4E1 lowers. This tap allows you to reach behind the rear lower for full rotation and better alignment. I've used it at least half a dozen times and still sharp; I use cutting lubricant even though it cuts aluminum like butter. I cut almost all the way and use the screw to swage the last thread or two for a tight fit.

I needed a long reach tap and went by the product image which turned out to be grossly inaccurate. The tap is not undercut so you can't really use it for much of anything at all over what you can with a regular tap. I canceled the order right after buying it because I noticed the hidden 1 star reviews but they shipped it anyway. Hopefully I can save someone else the wasted time.
