The red dunlop Jazz III XL is made of the same smooth nylon that the regular red Jazz III is made of, only it is slighly larger in length and width but not in thickness (YEAH!!!). The regular red is popular with too many guitarists to mention here, and for good reason it is very smooth in texture and plays quickly with a nice snappy release and a firm reponsive feel. It doesn't color the sound of your picking with unpleasant overtones or plinkyness, and it is pretty durable. I like the XL size better because I have thick hands and fingers and it is easier for me play than the smaller regular jazz III. The XL extends far enough out from my grip that the meat or muscle in back the thumb does not extend beyound the plectrum, this is important when crosspicking quickly, the regular Jazz III is sometimes just too small in my grip. Of the 3 picks I am most likely to pick up this is the number 2. I particularly like it's sound for jazz playing and for rhythm track strumming on acoustics when a hard pick like Clayton ultex's can sometimes be too sharp sounding. Interestingly this is one of very few picks I have found that record and sound good playing nylon string guitars, most likely because of its smoothness of texture. I really wish Dunlop Co. would make ther ultem jazz III in XL size it would probably be my new favorite.. The price for a pack like all dunlop products is very reasonable, now go play guitar..

Wanted to try this XL jazz pick out, since I liked the Kirk Hammett jazz 3 guitar picks (which are really small but have a good tone). These picks are “normal size†and same thickness as the KH Jazz 3, but have slightly more attack imo.

These are great for bass! These nylon picks will be very durable and the thickness and gripability, lets me play with speed, sharpness and accuracy, with minimum click sound. Will buy again..

I like these a lot, I think Nylon is a really good material for an XL. I like these a lot for more complicated rhythm stuff

I tried this as an alternative to red jazz III and I can say they are good, however, the sound was snot my favorite.

Love that they're bigger than the regular jazz iiis. If those fatigue your picking hand, you'll like these. The thickness is perfect for me personally. The embossed stamping is good grip. Better than the matte style of the delrex for me. I didn't think I was going to like these but keep going back to them. The TIII's would be the other I enjoy. Keep trying picks until the moment it just feels comfy and "right".

Awesome. My new go to pick. If you love Jazz III'S you'll love these. My guitar teacher wanted me to use a larger pick for strumming. I play 80's metal but strumming with the tiny Jazz III's was always an adventure. Sometimes I'd scrape my knuckles on the strings, other times, if I dug too deep the pick would be launched off into parts unknown. (The worst was hitting the drummer in the eye during a gig. Oops) I'm a bigger guy so the original Jazz III always felt tiny but I love the shape and the tip so I had to change the way I held the pick to use them. If you have big hands and use the Jazz III you will absolutely fall in love with these picks. These picks are the exact shape and thickness of the Jazz III just about 30% larger. I can get a much better grip which has actually helped with high speed single note runs. I can alternate pick much more aggressively and dig a little deeper for great clear tone. With the smaller Jazz III's I couldn't dig into the strings as much so I couldn't get the full attack. Stumning has also become a regular thing and not a physics experiment. If your a metal player and thought the Jazz III was the only pick you could use even though it's so small, you're going to love the larger Jazz III. For me it's finally the prefect pick with no trade offs. IMHO it's the greatest pick EVER!Keep 80' s hair metal alive !!!

When playing bass the thickness of the strings can make using a traditional pick difficult. It often slips along the side of the string and doesn't have a strong enough attack. As a result you either get a less defined sound with more string noise or you drop the pick. These over-sized jazz picks solve the problem. The precision from the sharp point reduces excess string noise and strengthens the attack, which makes playing fast licks much easier. The large size compared to traditional jazz picks is ideal for bass strings and helps you not drop the pick. You NEED this kind of pick if you play bass.

These picks are exactly what I'd hoped for....I mean the thickness of Jim Dunlop Jazz III Xl guitar picks are just right and they are quite sturdy. These are normal size picks so guitarists used to playing with normal size picks can very well go for these, otherwise incase you have slightly smaller fingers then you might as well opt for the smaller (Eric Johnson) size Jazz III without the 'XL' in its size. So folks if you solo a lot on your guitar then I absolutely recommend these picks, which you can go for without any doubt nonetheless. Happy playing/soloing/shredding guys....!
