The Eagle polyethylene oily waste safety can is used to temporarily store solvents, waste rags, or other combustible materials and has a foot pedal that lifts the lid for hands-free operation. The can is made of HDPE (high-density polyethylene), which is resistant to rust, dents, and certain chemicals. This product complies with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Standard 1910.1030 on blood-borne pathogens for the safe containment of infectious waste. It is FM Approved.
Hazardous storage cans are used to safely store, transport, and dispense flammable or hazardous liquids. They are typically made of polyethylene, 24-gauge galvanized steel, or 24-gauge stainless steel. (Gauge is a measure of thickness; the lower the gauge, the thicker the material.) Hazardous storage cans come in a variety of styles, such as Type I cans, which have a single spout for filling and pouring, and Type II cans, which have a flexible metal hose for pouring and a second opening for filling. They are often color-coded for different liquids (for instance, red cans for gasoline, blue cans for kerosene, yellow cans for diesel fuel, or green cans for oil). Other common features include flame arrestors, which help prevent the liquid inside the can from igniting, and seam welds, which help prevent leaks. Certain hazardous storage cans are FM Approved, and many meet National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards for the storage and handling of flammable liquids. Hazardous storage cans are used in a variety of commercial and industrial environments and can also be suitable for home use.

I had been using ice-melt during the winter and using the white plastic bucket that the salt came in as the storage canister duing use. The problem with that approach is that the bucket lid is difficult to pry off while wearing gloves and it's 10 degrees outside. I purchased this Eagle waste can after seeing them being used for ice-melt where I work. They use a lot more salt there than I use at home, but I appreciated the ease of the foot-operated opener to access the salt. The bucket arrived in great condition and the supplied warning sticker for "oily rags" was easy to remove for my use. I discovered that the 5 gallon bucket my ice-melt comes in can fit (with the snap-on lid removed) entirely inside this 10 gallon waste can, with the snap on lid set to the side inside the waste can for later use. This worked out even better than atticipated. At the end of the season, I then removed ice-melt bucket from the waste can and snapped the lid back on to keep moisture from the air from being absorbed by the salt.

This is made of a good grade of thick plastic. I suspect that some solvents will damage it but it would take a lot. For oily or solvent soaked rags works fine. The foot open is well done. Fairly large so look at the dimensions before buying. Says empty daily--fat chance. In some respects I would prfer metal but as it will be outside for much of the summer while I work on the deck the plastic is better. I will post back in a while about how UV resistant it is--if I remember. It will probably take a year to tell.

Safety can arrived very quickly. Seems to be sturdy, the top seam is somewhat ragged probably caused by construction. Product will be used for cloths or rags used with professional artists oil paints and thinners that will be deposited in a container then placed in the safety can. Locally, public works offers events to recycle hazardous material 2x a year so the waste in the safety can will be allocated to professional staff at these events. Safety can also be used by artists who use encaustic or cold wax products . I would recommend lining the can or at least enclosing hazardous material before placing in the can then recycling within your local community.

We purchased this for a dog poop can in the yard. We have gone through a few in the last few years ~ it takes a sturdy can to hold up to the Florida heat and bugs! We have an insert with a bag inside the can and it works great for us! So far we are very happy with it!

Lo tire a la basura muy peligroso para usarlo todas las uniones tenian un filo que parecian navajas trate de comunicarme con el vendedor sin respuesta alguna prefiero perder mi dinero y no un dedo. Ojala y tomen en cuenta este comentario y solucionen su calidad antes de seguir estafando a las perzonas jamas lo recomendaria muy mala compra e inseguro

I purchased to use in dog run for cleaning up mess. It does keep the smell contained for the most part but pretty disappointed in the way the lid opens. It will work and open up all the way only sometimes. Other times it won't respond to the foot pedal. It is doing the job but I wish I didn't have to fight with opening the lid. I use a Costco kitchen trash can bag as a liner and that works out well.

I use this to deposit my dog’s poop and it really makes a difference. No smell so flies don’t stay around. Sturdy and foot pedal makes it easy to open. Keeps rain out also.
