Everyone who has tried to buy JD parts knows how much they cost. This replacement seat was purchased because my old X540 seat fell apart. I didn't see X540 in the description but if you're looking for a seat that fits that model, this one will work. I was somewhat skeptical about the quality based upon the price when ordering but it turned out to be a really nice surprise for me.It's a very comfortable seat. It's definitely more comfortable than the original equipment one I had which looked almost exactly like this one. Installation was pretty easy, but like other reviews, the hole for the seat sensor was just a little too small. I just used a simple file to make it large enough to fit the sensor. I also had to take the seat base off in order to install the seat. Just scooting the springs over with my hand and loosening 4 nuts for the base was pretty simple. It's well worth the effort for the price and quality.The sensor activation with this seat worked fine for me, unlike some other reviews stating the sensor wouldn't activate when sitting on it. I would say that the nice, comfy amount of padding on the seat may impact the triggering of the switch. For me it's been fine, but if I lean a little bit it'll disengage the switch and shut the mower off. It's a bit sensitive. I'm about 180lbs but if you're on the lighter side, you may need to add padding between the seat and the sensor before you install it.I haven't had it long but so far it's been great. No regrets. If it you need this seat and it fits your JD, I would recommend buying it.Edit 7-16-2022: One thing that I forgot to mention is that this seat doesn't have a low spot at the back of the seat bottom. The OEM seat had this low spot, and when it would rain water would pool there. I don't know if it's the angle of my seat mount on my mower but this seat lets the water roll right off. No puddle on the seat anymore. I love it.Edit 10-09-2023: 16 Months after purchase and this is the 2nd Summer. I was a very hot Summer this year which made the seat vinyl a little sticky. I think this is caused by sunlight degrading it. This did not happen with my original John Deere seat BUT I still think this seat is well worth the money. I would recommend some kind of seat cover if you leave your lawn tractor outside all summer or park it in the shade.

The seat on my 15+ year old John Deere X304 had cracked and split so much that it was now virtually covered with yellow vinyl tape. Over a short period of time, the tape would curl at the edges and collect dirt and dust leaving unsightly black streaks all over the seat. I finally bit the bullet and replaced it with this seat. It installed easily in about 5 minutes. Just remove a lock pin and then the bar holding the seat in place. Remove the old seat, install the new one, replace the bar then the lock pin. There is no need to adjust the seat position as it will install in the same position as the old seat. It looks very nice and is comfortable to sit in. This replacement, along with replacing a broken hood, gives the tractor a like new appearance. Now to see if I can polish the body to complete the new tractor look.

I bought two of these for a pair of X324 tractors I have. I've used them for the past mowing season, and they seem to be holding up really well. The seat and back are soft but the material seems to be durable (time will tell). Both mowers are for residential use and they're kept inside between uses, so they are certainly not abused. I'm over 6' and 270#, and these are very comfortable seats. The only difference I can find between this and the factory one is the yellow is a lighter color, the vinyl seems to be a bit softer, and there isn't a JD logo on the back. I would buy this again without hesitation.

I have a John Deere x350 Lawn Tractor and of course the OEM seat has long since cracked, peeled and failed. This is despite the fact that it has been continuously housed in a shed.In any case, the durability of this seat is not yet established for me, but it could not do worse than the original.It installs easily and fits the same as the original. The safety contact fit fine and I did not need to make the modifications others have mentioned. I also did not have add any padding to get it to activate.It sits slightly higher than the original, and it seems to be not as slick as the original material, so it grabs your clothing more securely. That is a personal preference kind of thing, and was ok with me. I just want a seat that will not expose the foam and works reasonably well.So far, that is the case.

Ordered for my GX345. Installed in under a minute.Pushed me too far forward. Yes the adjustment was all the way back.Put it on my LX289 and it's great. Adjustment needed to be all the way back.I'm 5'8". If I were taller it would be too close.Great seat. Very comfortable. I wish I would have replaced it sooner. Years sooner. Hopefully it lasts. Seems like it will.

I installed this on a John Deere X580 made in 2016.Easy install. Has been in use for two seasons now - very happy with the product.Would recommend.

It took all of 5 minutes to replace the broken original equipment seat on my X320 tractor. Fits great and very comfortable. Will add a seat cover if it becomes necessary but for now my ride has been greatly improved. Good price for a quality product.

There is a raised portion of the seat back that would have had the John Deere yellow deer logo on it. The new seat is just black plastic, it would be nice if the logo were available with the seat
