This jacket is much lighter than I would have liked. It can use more down fill.

I've had Eddie Bauer puffer jackets before and, like them, this is a very light weight jacket that is warm for the weight and packs down small, but for some reason they opted to cut out the sides and replace them with t-shirt material that does not hold in warmth so they are not as warm as the older style. It's still good and a decent value for the price but it's also very easily damaged so don't use it in a setting where it might get tugged on or catch the edge of furniture.

So I bought the jacket on a whim. It is a down hooded jacket under $35. Not sure what all the fuss is about. It is a layering item. It is warmer than the down alternative jackets I have at similar prices. Pair this with an outer soft shell and a base layer and you got a lightweight inexpensive system to keep you warm. Or just use it in below 32 degree temps to run to the car and drive to work. Either way, not sure what the complaints are from other folks. For what I paid for real down you can't go wrong. Snap this up before they figure out the pricing error.

The coat is extremely thin and is not fully filled. The sides are just very wide panels of very thin polyester.

Quality of the product, zipper was small and looked like it wasn't built to last. At that price point I guess you get what you pay for.
