About this item

  • Fits dual-plane intake manifolds
  • Includes heat-insulating phenolic fiber
  • Measures 0. 5 in thickness and comes with a natural finish
  • Enhances low RPM torque and throttles response
  • The divided-wall design increases the air and fuel mixture velocity

The Edelbrock Carburetor Spacer allows you to space carburetors above the intake flange to increase plenum area for more torque and horsepower. This wood carburetor spacer includes heat-insulating phenolic fiber. It insulates and tunes your carburetor and manifolds power band. This spacer extends the length of the intake mixture column to improve air and fuel distribution. There are two different styles of spacers with distinctively different benefits. The open plenum design increases plenum volume for improved high RPM power and the divided-wall design increases the air and fuel mixture velocity for improved low-speed and mid-range torque. This carburetor spacer comes with 0. 5 thickness and it fits dual-plane intake manifolds.

I bought a 1979 F-150 in November 2022 and I have been restoring it this summer. The old carb needed to be rebuilt after years of sitting but I ended up swapping to a new carb instead. Once we started getting air temps over 80* I noticed rough idle, hard to restart when warm and off-idle hesitation. The carb was too hot to touch when it started running like this. Did some internet sluething and due to low fuel pressures that carbs use and modern fuel blends, the fuel likes to vaporize at lower temps than it has in years past (or so the interwebs says) since most cars run modern fuel injection with much higher pressures these days this is a non-issue. So I need to keep temps down to keep the fuel from boiling in the carb...which brings me to this nifty Edeldbrock wood spacer. I ordered this with the Edelbrock 9266 heat insulating gasket and ARP 2002402 carb studs long enough for spacer, gasket and carb base. I've not had the vapor lock issues since and the carb no longer gets too hot to touch, you can touch with bare hands as much as you want at full operating temp. No longer is it difficult to start when it is at operating temp. I love when it is something basic that you can do to fix the problem.

Previously bought 9266 as suggested per installation manual for 1905 carb. Absolutely waste and didnt work (vacuume leak). This spacer does job. And looking cool

Keeps the carburetor and fuel cooler. Makes me want to try out a thicker spacer.

Worked perfectly. Completely solved heat soak/flooding issues when starting after being parked for 10-15+ minutes. Engine fires right up with no throttle input necessary when hot, unlike before, which required your foot to be almost to the floor. I tried the Edelbrock insulator gasket (#9266) before switching to this spacer, and while the gasket helped a little, it did not completely solve the issue like this spacer did.My only knock on this spacer is that the nuts included with the hardware were coarse thread instead of fine thread, which makes no sense, so I had to re-use the nuts from my old studs to mount the carb.

I bought this to help with a vapor lock issue on my 1970 C10. So far it seems to be working. After driving the truck around I am able to sustained touch the carburetor so it is definitely cooler than the intake. As to the installation, yes the carb studs are too short by about 1/4 inch. The gaskets supplied are open plenum which to me means a cross airflow between planes. Even though performer rpms have a notched opening between the planes that is for high rpm. I wanted to keep the planes separate so I bought two 4 hole carb gaskets. I trimmed the lower one to match the dual plane spacer and ran the upper one as is.I would have preferred to get the spacer without the wrong gaskets/studs and $5-10 cheaper. I spent about $20 on getting the right stuff to go with it.

Haven't installed it yet, but I've seen enough YouTube videos to be pretty sure it'll work.

Only negative is it came with the wrong nuts. Needed fine thread gor the suppled studs. An extra $3 but it cured my hot starting issues.

Have not run the engine yet, but the fit and bolts provided were perfect for my 1968 289 with Edelbrock Performer intake and Carb. Quality looks above par but, as always, time will tell.
