This is made of solid wood. Easy to push into citrus fruit. With just a couple of twists the juice is pouring out. I gave away my squeezing juicer because this was easier and I got more juice. I use it all the time and it washes with ease. I highly recommend this product.

As another reviewer noted, it could benefit from a little sanding and possibly oiling (if motivated) for a smoother finish. That would make cleaning a bit easier, but all in all, it's affordable, and juices lemons, limes and small oranges easily and thoroughly. I often just squeeze in my hand, but it's nice to use this and not get the citrus juice all over me.If I'm juicing a bigger orange for making a dressing or sauce, I use a plastic juicer w/ a handle that sits on a bowl. Both are your basic, simple, low tech juicers, which I prefer. Takes up little space in the drawer as well.

NOTE: The two photos I posted were taken AFTER I sanded and oiled the reamer -- this is not the condition I received it in.Out of the package, this wooden citrus reamer was a little rough around the edges. The "blades" on the working end had been cut without being sanded to round them out, so the wood became very thin right at the edge and had little chips and nicks in it (probably sustained during transit, as it was shipped in a mailer instead of a box). I imagined that little splinters of wood might come out into my citrus juices if I used the reamer in that condition. I decided to sand it (working up to 2000 grit -- perhaps overkill) and then cover it with food grade mineral oil in a ziploc bag overnight. After wiping off the excess oil the next day, the result was a huge improvement -- the reamer was pleasantly smooth to the touch, the color of the wood appeared more vibrant (and less dusty or fuzzy looking), and even though I slightly rounded the edges of the blades during sanding, they remained sharp enough to do their job. I've used it 3-4 times so far, for limes and lemons, and it has worked very well on both, extracting a little more juice (I think) than my previous plastic citrus juicer. It's comfortable in my hand and was easy for me to control, allowing me to exert substantial force during juicing without feeling like the reamer would slip. (Anyone with limited mobility in their wrists or elbows may have trouble using this tool comfortably.) It feels sturdy and I would be surprised if it ever "broke," unless it got left in water and became moldy or something like that -- and regular oiling of the wood should help protect against moisture damage. I gave this item 4 stars instead of 5 because it did not meet my standards straight out of the package, but if you're willing to make a mini project out of finishing it (an initial sanding and oiling, followed by periodic oiling as needed), it can be a great kitchen tool for a very reasonable price.

I’ve used it with limes and lemons. Before you cut the fruit roll the fruit around the counter firmly and it’s easier to use and you’ll get all the just the fruit has to give. Stop trying to squeeze the fruit to death and make it easier for yourself and buy this. Because it’s wood it’s best to hand wash and it will be the only one you’ll have to buy. There are prettier ones at a much higher price but this cheaper version is all you will need. It works great.

This was a gift. My friend loves it and has used it daily. She likes the size and the sturdiness, as well as the large handle

Super Teil ! Liegt gut in der Hand. Einfach zu reinigen und holt mehr aus jeder Zitrusfrucht als eine Saftpresse..

I didn't think I really needed this - saw it mentioned in a Guardian review of essential kitchen utensils and was swayed to buy it.I absolutely love it and use it all the time. It's incredibly effective, I'd say i get at least 25% more juice out of lemons and limes compared to using a countertop squeezer - I don't know why, but it's a fact. It's also a lovely object and a pleasure to use.
