My mechanic Installed this back in April for our 2010 Prius. Got the same code right after. Thinking that this is brand new unit, I started looking into other possibilities that causes P0401 and replaced all the parts involved. The engine last with the same code kept coming back. So we came back to the egr valve again. Being tired of driving so many miles with engine light on, we decided to try our luck with an original egr valve from Toyota @ $400.It’s been well over 500 miles and still no engine light.I’d not recommend this product, pay a bit more and get the oem. I ended paying so much more since I had to pay my mechanic multiple times and I can’t even return this product.

This part needs to be genuine Toyota design. With this new part and a new egr cooler, soon had P0401-insufficient exhaust flow. Pulled the cooler and egr off again this time re-used Genuine Toyota EGR with 180000 miles on it after cleaning it up, and no more issues. The actuator on this is a cheap design, not like the coil and magnet Toyota design.

Fits fine and seemed to work at first, caused a 5-10mpg drop and after 2 weeks check engine light with EGR code. Going to lut old one back in. This unit is trash, do not buy. Bad quality. Im outside my return window or I would send it back today! Stuck with $100 piece of trash. Should have read the reviews closer and installed sooner. Do not make my mistake!

This replacement gave an insufficient flow code less than a week after installing it and then proceeded to get stuck at various stages of open practically stranding me. I had to remove the rotor cap and pull the valve to close it allowing me to drive until I could replace it. This is not an easy part to access/replace so dont waste your time with this aftermarket replacement. The design is far inferior and its not worth chancing it. Just get the Toyota one.
