This is an excellent thermometer for a small aquarium or small container. Students can hold it by the middle and not touch the glass.

So, I put this thing in boiling water (at sea level +40’) and it read 203 degrees. It works great if you are not particularly concerned about what the actual temperature might be.

These thermometers are not very accurate. Laying them side by side in the same room they all showed a slightly different temperature with as much as 2 degrees F difference.

Very inaccurate temperature. At 70 degrees it seems accurate. However, the further it gets from 70, the more inaccurate it becomes. I compared it to other thermometers at higher and lower temps. It was very inaccurate at both -- off between 10 and 20 degrees. It wasn't until I tried to return it that I noticed it says it it not returnable. Avoid a waste of money.
