This dish is designed for chemistry labs, and is made from lightweight porcelain. That's good because it won't react to chemicals - but, as other reviewers are pointing out, it doesn't seem to be the sturdy sort of porcelain, more like Chinese teacups. I am glad to say that I did receive mine in one piece, as it came very well padded and sturdily packaged, but you will want to be very careful with these. I suspect that, while sturdier dishes would cost more, it might be money well spent.As long as it stays in one piece, though, there's nothing wrong with this dish - it's mostly round, with a pour spout to make it easy to dump the contents into a beaker.

Standard porcelain evap dish, round bottom for gas heating. It works, I dont know how it will stand up to time and use so I will update later

Cracked on the hotplate, didn't break. Currently in the garbage.
