This electric pepper grinder (4 AA batteries) works beautifully and is an elegant design for your table. It has a light so that upon pressing the button to activate, the light comes on to illuminate the food (good idea in dimly lit conditions) as you apply the pepper. We are very pleased with this purchase.UPDATE: I purchased this electric pepper grinder from Amazon in the spring of 2014, a year ago as I write this update. After several weeks of use, I wrote the following Amazon review, giving 5 stars: `'This electric pepper grinder (4 AA batteries) works beautifully and is an elegant design for your table. It has a light so that upon pressing the button to activate, the light comes on to illuminate the food (good idea in dimly lit conditions) as you apply the pepper. We are very pleased with this purchase.'' After several months of use, a peppercorn became lodged in the grinding mechanism, and I tried to pry it out with a toothpick, but without success. So I disassembled the grinding mechanism and took the offending peppercorn out. But to my chagrin I couldn't remember how the pieces fit together and after several abortive attempts, decided to request the re-assembly instructions from the manufacturer. I did so through Amazon. The next thing that happened: The manufacturer, Epare, sent me a brand-new pepper grinder, same model. Now, keep in mind the problem was MY fault, and I had NOT requested a replacement - only instructions for putting my grinder back together. Over several decades, my wife and I have had occasional problems with merchandise of one kind or another, and stores and manufacturers have responded with varying degrees of customer support, from poor to excellent. However, this was a first - no questions asked product replacement without our even asking for it. Needless to say, we were extremely pleased. And we still LOVE our Epare pepper grinder!

I was delighted to find this design electric pepper and salt mill available. Originally, I became aware of this design when I prepared a dinner at a friend's house. The mills she had looked exactly like these by Epare, but were manufactured in Denmark. After using them I had to have a pair, and started looking around for them.When I saw the exact same design on Amazon, I ordered two to try and they have NOT been a disappointment. These mils are well-constructed of brushed stainless steel and plastic with a good battery-operated motor. The actual grinders appear to be made of ceramic material, not plastic. They work fantastic! AND, they have been reliable.When I cook I prefer to grind both pepper and salt into food during preparation. I do not like to use ground pepper or salt shakers during food preparation. I like my coffee ground fresh in the morning, and I like my pepper ground fresh from pepper corns - either in the kitchen or at the table. It is a real pain in the backside to have to lay a spatula or spoon down and engage both hands to grind pepper or salt while at the stove. And that is where these mills are real winners. Just pick one up with one hand and depress the button on top to dispense the exact amount of seasoning you want. The picture on this site of these being used is a perfect depiction.And this particular mill has a large reservoir that holds sufficient pepper, or salt, to last several weeks in normal use. Currently I have one loaded with pepper corns, and the other loaded with Himalayan salt crystals from Costco. In conclusion, not only do I highly recommend this product, but I am reminded I must order several more for use at the table, to give as gifts, or to use with spices other than pepper and salt. Give them a try - they are reasonably priced, and of good quality construction.

It is attractive but this pepper mill has some issues. It was difficult to separate to fill with peppercorns. After having done this once, it might be easier next time as I will not fear breaking it in the process. After reassembling, I discovered the housing/sleeve on the top part does not securely snap in place. The silver housing rotates without much effort and it is way too easy to pick up the pepper mill and have the innards (motor and peppercorn compartment) slide out. I finally taped it with packing tape so it would not rotate. Now, after using the pepper mill for a few days have discovered that readjusting for a coarser grind is futile. I have rotated the grinder setting all the way to the coarse end and the grind of pepper is the same as it is at the other end for fine grind. It gets two stars because it does grind pepper and the light works.Edit with update: My first review gave this grinder 2 stars. I updated to 5 stars after I was offered a replacement and it arrived within a few days. My first grinder was a lemon as described and does not compare to the quality of the replacement I received. Complaints that I had were not issues - the sleeve housing the battery compartment and motor twisted off and back on, clicking securely into place. The grind adjustment mechanism works well. Between the quick response of seller offering a replacement and the quality of the grinder, I am one happy camper.Edit with new update (06/13/2018) - The replacement when into recycling. I loaded the grinder with salt and it worked okay for a week and then started making noise like slipping gears (grind-grind-grind-click noise) with no grinding action at all. We quit using it but I decided to dump out the salt and try it with peppercorns. No such luck. The motor and light work but the grinder has failed.

I've had this grinder for two years now and it's a cut above the other stuff out there. I use a lot of pepper in my cooking and I like to put a layer of it on steaks that almost obscures the meat. This grinder has done the job without a hitch.Pros - the bigger AA batteries means you can use it for weeks at a time (I use rechargeables), the white light illuminates your target without giving it a weird hue and the grinder mechanism doesn't clog. I've had other grinders in the past with blue lights and ceramic grinders that clog after a while but this one keeps going without any need for cleaning.Cons - the reservoir is a little on the small side and the button to work it does need a very firm press but these are small things. Overall the best electric mill I've had.

This product is super nice. Small enough for camping, size of grain adjustable, well made, quality.I was worried that they were too big, but they are perfect.I'll probably buy some more for my luch pack and my BBQ kit at the appartment.Highly recommended !

I bought this thinking it was the salt and pepper grinders so please don't make the same mistake as me, it is just one unit. However, this is a really great item and I use pink himalayan salt in it which others mentioned doesn't grind well, I have not had any issues. I'm not missing having one for pepper tbh so not needed as hubby has white pepper on meals so easier to have a shaker for that. This has a handy cover on the bottom too so when cooking you are able to see how much you're using and don't get salt on the side after use.

funktionieren super und lassen sich dort, wo wenig Platz ist (bei mir auf der Arbeit) verstauen! Mit edlem Acryl-Ständer, den ich aber nicht nutze.
