Easy to install and has good holding power.. Im not sure if the 600 lbs is accurate since im using it to lock my garage door and when trying to raise it while locked the magnets will slip apart with a significant effort. I believe the holding power would probably be much greater if it was being pulled away from the magnet rather than sliding, but even when separating the magnet by sliding the plate off rather than pulling it away the hold is quite strong. Uses very little power, does not get hot, and its good quality for a Chinese generic product. I plan to replace it with a different style lock more suitable for a garage door, and installing this one on an actual swing type door, which should much improve its holding capability

This product works exactly as I hoped it would. I used it as the locking mechanism for a hidden access door (along with the separate purchase of the power supply/controller Amazon recommended). Some notes on this product to clarify some other reviews I've read:1) I ordered the 130lb version (FYI the manual states 120lb); the product I received looked exactly like the picture.2) The product was very easy to install: Remove the hex screws with the supplied Allen wrench to separate the electromagnet from the bracket, mount the bracket with the supplied screws** (I used my own screws because the supplied screws sheared), re-install the hex screws, mount the steel plate on the door with the supplied bolt, connect the wiring...Done!**Update: I have since learned through additional research that the supplied screws are aluminum. This is for a reason, as the non-ferreous metal prevents interference with the magnetic field generated by the electromagnet. I suggest you drill pilot holes before installing the screws and to use the screws that come with the product.3) When you mount the steel plate, you will have to drill a hole though the door to attach the bolt. The instructions say to keep the steel plate slightly loose. This is the important step I skipped the first time and noticed it wasn't holding properly. After loosening, the plate was able to align with the electromagnet and hold properly.4) The specifications/instructions the come with the device are pretty poor, but this is a simple device. When all else fails, go to Youtube.5) Another reviewer pointed out that there is no fly-back diode installed on this device. I haven't opened it up myself to check, but believe this to be the case after I shunted power to the device (by pressing the TEST switch on the GFCI that provides power to it (via power supply)). That GFCI no longer works and required replacement. If you don't know what a fly-back diode is... go to Youtube and research. You can buy one for a couple dollars.6) This device does get hot under continuous use. Not hot enough to burn you, but to take precaution I installed a spare heatsink I had lying around on the back of the mounting bracket to shed the heat. Conclusion: I gave this product 4 stars because I had to provide the fly-back diode myself (and replace my GFCI). Aside from that, the product itself appears to be working exactly as intended and I'm happy with the purchase. Hope this helps!

Needed to replace what we had in our store. The price was AMAZING and it works just like the ones I used to get that easily cost five times this.

Installed with a 12V 3A power supply and it won't even hold pair of pliers when activated let alone stop anyone from pushing through the door.I should have known the old adage, you get what you pay for would hold true.DO NOT BUY THIS GARBAGE, will be returning it
