Did you know that kidney disease is Not Reversible, and about 35 million Americans suffer from it. Close to a million Americans have what is referred to as End state kidney disease (ESKD), which means they need to either have a kidney transplant (for which there is a very long waiting list) OR they must undergo dialysis about three times per week (3 hours per session) in order to stay alive. The cause for most of this is simply the common American "highly processed and fast food" diet which is extremely high in sodium, potassium, phosphorus, and fats - which slowly overpower and kill off our kidneys - without most of us even being aware of what is happening until it is too late. Thus, it is very important for us to actually read the ingredients labels, per serving, on the packaged food that we buy. Also be aware that most of the fast food that we eat contains nearly lethal daily doses of the ingredients that destroy our kidneys. Awareness is the key for Americans to remain healthy into our old age. These charts offers a pretty a decent list of foods to avoid and foods to use more of so that our kidneys stay healthy. The food items listed in these charts provide the approximate levels of the 3 important ingredients (K, Na, P) that can impact your kidneys so that you can keep track of your daily intake. Note that in the fine print at the bottom of these charts is an explanation of the recommended daily levels to use as your guidelines. It also contains a lot of examples of kidney friendly suggestions for our three daily meals as well as snacks and beverages. I will be making good use of these meal suggestions. However, I have seen somewhat better detailed descriptions of renal friendly foods and recipes for our diets on the Internet. For the money, you get six pages of fairly good information that can help keep you healthy for most of your life - if you pay attention and use it wisely.

This is a nice easy to follow meal planner for those with kidney issues. I like that this info appears to be kinda of laminated so if you spill on it you have time to clean it before stain sets in. Very good info and good ideas to create your own meals and snacks. There are a few typos and I saw it because we love pineapple. The snack mentions pineapple but there is a pic of eggs instead of pineapple and some pics have protein listed twice instead of protein and calories . The higher number would have to be calories. However, you still get good info. I really like the planner tells you the amount of potassium, Sodium and phosphorus in the meal too. Manufacture should take more time to make sure all the info is correct without typos before sending out to public. It took me a minute to figure out what the chart meant as I was thrown off by the typos. Took one star because the info can be confusing due to the typos. This chart should be discounted due to typos.

Having a few people around me that have kidney issues, this chart is helpful. It lists low potassium and kidney healthy foods will letting you know the other types of food that should be limited when looking out for your kidney health. This chart also has meal plans for breakfast, lunch, dinner along with snacks and beverages. Even if you don't fix the exact meals shown, you can get ideas for other combinations that would work for those that need the extra care for their kidneys.

This is a nice chart to have, but don't use it as the one and only source. There are some conflicting entries that make me question the validity of the information here. However, if you want to use it as a refresher or if you have a question and don't feel like searching the internet, this would be nice to have. It has charts for what to enjoy and what to limit. Some recipe ideas, etc. Overall, not bad.
