First off, I'm astounded. After reading so many forums about upgrading pickups, I finally decided to say screw it and do it. Wow these are different. So clear and punchy. Even better with steel strings.A couple things - the crimper they provided was very nifty. Saved me in the whole ground wire too short issue, but I wish they either gave one or two more of them, or made the grounding wire longer in the first place. Also, would have been great to have a crimper for the output jack to prevent from soldering since I just cut the wires from my old pot, not knowing that I'd have to keep it since the provided jack didn't fit. No big deal though. Just would have been nice.Lastly, my pickups don't say HZ on them... which is kinda cool honestly. But I love it. Install was a breeze. Only thing is my knobs didn't fit on the pots. I had to switch knobs between another one of my basses. :)

These pickups have a great sound and tone, and I absolutely love them. That said, I have three problems with them. The first problem was that they were not incredibly easy to install in my squier pbass. I needed to drill several holes into the body and expand the electronics cavity to make room for the solderless wiring. This isnt the fault of the pickups but is something that you should consider before buying for an upgrade. The second problem is that the tone knobs behave strangely when they are fully maxed sometimes the sound of one or both of the pickups cuts out when they are both fully turned on. This can be fixed by moving the P volume to about 90 but is something worth knowing about. The last issue is grounding. The grounding instructions included were very confusing and vague, leading to me not fully grounding the bass. This means that there is a minor hum when the tone is up, this is usually fixed when I stand on my pedalboard or a piece of metal. Now that they are installed they look and sound amazing, with a very clear tone.

These pickups were bought for a spare bass that I've slowly been upgrading. The stock pickups were ok, but they lacked the punchy sound needed to cut through a two guitar, four vocal band. These EMG's changed that completely! Now I can dial in nearly every sound I get out of my higher end basses on a bass I picked up at a pawn shop for $100. I would recommend these for any bassist that needs a tight punchy sound, but doesn't have much experience installing electronics. The installation was a breeze, and the included instructions were thorough.

Very easy to install, and they sound great/crisp. My only gripe is the $200 price tag. Value isn't quite where it should be, but what are you gonna do- you're paying for a brand name.

This kit contains the three pickups, three potentiometers, a 1/4 jack and all the wiring required to connect everything. It was very easy to install and wire everything, as it all fit easily in a Squire PJ bass without modification. I didn't buy the pickups for the solderless connectors, but they are awesome. Why solder when you can connect everything with crimp connectors? Simple to put together and it will be easy to modify in the future. +1 for EMG pickups.

Great sounding pickups. The best part is the easy installation. With little effort you can figure it out. All plug and play. EMG customer service is phenomenal and they will help you with anything you need. I put them in a project bass I built (Yamaha) and they were a huge upgrade from the stock Yamaha pickups.

WOW what a difference, I took a cheap guitar center mitchell 30 in scale bass and turned it into a monster! the solderless connection makes install a breeze even for this dummy lol..
