About this item

  • Our Extra Thick Spiral Sewn Buffing Wheels are 80 ply to last longer than traditional buffing wheels and provide a larger surface area to polish with.
  • Diameter: 8” | Hole: 5/8” | Thickness: 1” | Ply count: 80 | 100% cotton.
  • About 50% thicker than regular buffing wheels, polishing larger areas and having an extended lifespan.
  • Great for cutting and course buffing. The buffing wheel plys are spiral sewn so greater pressure can be applied when polishing. This will easily allow for faster cutting.
  • Can be used with any polishing compound. To apply polishing compounds, simply spin the buffing wheel on a motor or drill and gently press the compound to the wheel. The heat and friction of the spinning wheel will be enough to transfer a small amount of the compound onto the wheel for polishing.

Purchased buffing wheel to polish aluminum mostly. Very well made and meets all my expectations I had when I purchased it. Arrived in a reasonable amount of time, in fact I think it arrived a couple days early. It hold polishing paste well and doesn't tear or rip while deburring edges. I'd purchase again without hesitation.

I will start this off saying these are my first buffing wheels purchased for my bench grinder. Basically I purchased a Harbor Freight bench grinder and the wheels that came with it were so wonky it was unusable so I decided to convert it into a buffer. I purchased 2 buffing wheels and they fit well. I did remove the guards to make it more open. The wheels spin much more balanced than the grinder wheels. Before my grinder wanted to walk right off the bench now it stays put with only a rubber mat under it. No need to clamp the grinder down which is nice because I dont have a ton of space on my bench for perminantly installed fixtures. The wheels did fray alot when I started using it and the harbor freight buffing compound seemed to stick better to my workbench than the buffing wheel. I used about 1/4 of a stick trying to coat the wheel. I doubt it's the wheels fault I think it's due to the crappy compound hf sells. I am going to try and find better compound and see how it works with that. I purchased these wheels primarially to polish patina off of carbon steel pocket knives and polish my gold ring. It works great for gold takes all the scratches out. As for steel it would work better if I had better compound. So I will have to upgrade my compound and see how much better the wheels work. I will warn you for the first several times you use it you will be covered in strings from the buffer shedding but eventually it should become less sheddy. Lol when polishing knives I do notice the steel gets hot if I am not careful. This is a bad thing due to the fact I dont want to hurt the heat treat. So be careful and make sure you are concious of heat when using these buffers on heat treated items. I'd buy them again.

Decent buffing wheel but they don't specify arbor size and the answers were split 50/50. So I took a shot since most of the recent reviews said 5/8 arbor. However the one I received absolutely had a 1/2 inch arbor hole that I had to ream out to make fit on a 5/8 arbor. Shoots off strings when you first start it up but I have buffed several things and it seems to be holding up fairly well.

I bought this for my WEN 4280 8" Variable Speed Bench Grinder. If fit fine but was all the way to the side of the tool rest. I bought a couple 5/8” ID washers to center it a bit better. I bought Woodstock D2902 1-Pound Extra Fine Buffing Compound, Green for the buffing wheel. It polishes fine and may even cut a bit, so don’t overdo it till you get used to it. The different colors of buffing compound are well explained in the answers to questions for the Amazon product. I mostly bought this to buff out my knives after sharpening them with the DMT A-PROKIT Aligner Prokit Diamond Sharpener. I’ve tried lots of knife sharpening systems and this works the best for me and is actually one of the cheaper ones.

Nice thick wheel for use in a hand held variable speed buffer. Used with black emory rouge, it cut off the gray elephant hide from an old aluminum boat and left a nice mirror shine. The wheel I got was not a spiral sewn, it's a concentric sewn, but a good wheel anyway.
