Great reliable roofing hatchet. From the tip to the back hole for the gauge is in fact 5 5/8 inches so it measures correctly. The only thing is half the gauge was missing when I receive the product. I was too busy to contact the company about it and so I took one off of an old broken AJC roofing hatchet. It doesn’t fit perfectly but it’s good enough. Now that I have time I would contact the company but by this time I doubt they do anything about it because it’s been too long. Great product though. I would recommend, especially for people learning to shingle because you don’t have to deal with the gauge slipping out of position like with the AJC roofing hatchet. But it’s just as good for the experienced journeyman.

I have many of estwing's hammers and mallets. One I have had for over 20 years when I did construction and I still use it whenever I have a project. The things are built to last forever. The only thing that wears down over a long time is the blue grip but it takes years to wear down and you can still use it. Great products and still have decent prices even after Bidenomics screwed the country over.

This is every bit a great roofing hatchet. I’ve used ajc for years didn’t even know estwing had this. I thought it was a mistake the price was 7 bucks. So I bought the last 2 in stock. Normally around 30. Ajc is 40. So this is a great buy. I also use the blade instead of a hook blade knife. Been doing that for years. Again this thing is just as good as AJC.
