We bought the car seat and two bases (one for each car) and this product was designed by someone who has had to sweat through installing a car seat or has listened to the disgruntled ramblings of someone who has. Didn't even have to read the instructions. Very intuitive. The load bearijg leg extends the life of the car seat, forestalling additional purchases which is a blessing when you have kids.

Research showed this base would work with the safemax car seat so I bought 2 extra. It doesn’t work!
