Imagine a fantasy world with Papo figurines: ride dragons, battle against the mighty Minotaur and the mutants, and fight alongside the Phoenix. Papo is a reference in the world of figurines Thanks to the originality of its products and the extreme care taken with product quality and safety. In an age of mass consumption and throwaway goods, Papo remains true to its wish to produce fine toys that last over time and can be passed on from generation to generation. The range of products offers a wealth of 12 different universes ranging from animals made with astonishing degrees of realism to original characters from imaginary worlds.

I bought the "Faceless Knight" and his horse about a year ago along with several others so my nephews would have something to play with when they visit. They're always after my chess sets! The "Faceless Knight" has been a great favorite, and though it's beginning to look battered from being treated with the utter brutality only a pair of 5-year-old boys can manage, it's still in good shape. Both of them ask about him when they call, and I've had to show them he's still here and still in good shape over FaceTime several times. The detail work is really excellent, and while this is a fantasy piece and has no basis in history, the armor can still be used as an example for the late 16th/early 17th century. I'd call it a cuirassier or a three-quarter armor, even though it's hard to tell because the arms are mostly covered in the cloak. The helm of course doesn't fit; nobody wore that kind of helm with that kind of armor, but that's hardly important because it looks cool, and I'm not above that kind of anachronism in my own writing. How I wish they'd had this kind of thing when I was a kid!

Confession time: I bought the Faceless Knight for myself. I have been building one of those ubiquitous 3-D fairyland dioramas that you find on Pinterest in my backyard. I already have a couple of knights with horses (originally presents for my nephew but I kept them) and my son gave me a dragon for Christmas. They all look awesome in their mossy rock and succulent plant environment. The dragon is terrifying in his former-birdhouse-now-prison lockup. They just needed a Faceless Knight to add another mystical element to the story. Because the Faceless Knight reminded me of a the Ring Wraith from the movie, "Lord of the Rings", I had to order him.In the picture, it appears the knight is in a defensive stance. I didn't realize he is meant to be astride a horse. No matter, I'll just order an equally freaky horse for him, but for now he stands astride the mossy hilltop next to the dragon cage. Surrounded by lava rock and quartz, this guy is right at home. Now, I need a wizard.

I like this figure, shrouded in dark mystery. He reminds me a little of a Ringwraith. He's smaller of stature than the other Papo figures that I've purchased (Rhino Man, Crocodile Mutant) and smaller than the Cyclops by Safari. But he's supposed to be closer to man-sized rather than have a "beastly" frame, so I'm okay with his proportions. I plan to use him as an Undead Giant for 28mm miniature war gaming, and he'll fit the bill nicely.

I got this figure in hopes it would make for a good "giant" figure, as compared to the types of miniatures made for roleplaying games, which are 25/28mm or 1/72 scale. In that regard, it works pretty well. In D&D terms, this figure is about the size of a large cloud giant or a smallish storm giant. Personally, I'd use it for something like a firbolg.I wasn't expecting a lot from this figure. It was inexpensive, and I assumed it would be so-so. However, the sculpt is dynamic and detailed. I saw another review say it had a Ringwraith look to it, and it does, indeed, look like one of those dark spirits from the Lord of the Rings. There is a separate "Faceless Knight Horse" you can find on Amazon for it to sit on, and the way this figure is sculpted, it can be placed on the horse or stood on its own readily. Overall, it's a good addition to a set of roleplaying game figures if you are looking for a different kind of giant. As a child's toy, it's fairly sturdy. It's not a smoothly sculpted figure, given the level of detail, so it might not be very comfortable for small children to hold and play with.

I'm a "collector" and thus is the type of quality and things I collect. I was sceptical on this just because of how cheap it is. But it turned out really well. Thick material, great molding, and painting was on point. Well worth the price. My items just stand around my house but also recommend for a child 10 and up if buying for a toy to be played with.

Bellissima figure con una buona qualità costruttiva. La creatività sopperirsce ad alcuni lievi "sbavature" di realizzazione.
