I have been looking everywhere for this kitchen gadget! My mom has one of these and I have been trying to find one so that I can check my bread/muffins/cakes while they are finishing up baking in the oven. This cake tester is great because it is thin enough to not make a huge divot in your baked goods, while providing a think enough stick to see if your dough or batter is done baking.It comes with a little cover that is great so that the tester will not get bent in your drawer with all of your cooking utensils, and the cover makes it easier to find since it is small.Love this tool! It has helped my baking a lot for something so simple.

This is a very nice cake tester in its own little cylindrical case to protect it from getting bent. My last cake tester (different brand) had no protective case and eventually got pretty bent. I liked the case feature and was willing to pay a little bit extra for it. It appears it will last a very long time.

This is a sturdy little tool but a little bit short. Of course the one I am replacing is a good 50 years old so maybe they aren't made as long any more. The one I bought is 4 3/4 inches long. My old one is 5 1/2 inches long which is a good length when using a deep cake pan like a tube pan. Otherwise, this one is sturdy and it won't get lost in the drawer with the red handle.

For years, I have used a knife to test the doneness of a cake which invariably left a indent in the top layer. I have loved using this tester because it gives the ideal doneness of the cake without leaving a hole in the top!

I use it to check to see if rolls are cooked thoroughly inside. I also use it to check softness of baked potatoes. Works excellent good quality
