The heat level has been good to keep an opening in the ice. Very easy to install, well built, plastic and metal material and if it works well for a long time it is a good value for the money.

This product is just amazing. It lasts about 3 seasons and works wonderfully. For our pond we always keep a spare in case if it fails on the coldest day.

This seems to be keeping my pond de-iced by the skimmer box. We were working on the pond today and I'm pretty sure the de-icer was hot, although there was no ice, so I'm not so sure about the automatic shutoff. The cord is just a tad short, quite a bit shorter than any other de-icer I've bought. Seems like a good unit, though.

I was hoping this would be a great product to keep my little pond (150 gallons) from freezing. When I opened the product and read the installation instructions, I was disappointed with all the things the de-icer required. I had to hire an electrician to put an outlet right next to my pond with a direct connection to the electrical panel, because per the instructions you can't use an extension cord. Then the de-icer has to be placed in a sheltered corner of the pond. Got all that done and for the first few weeks of winter everything seemed to go well. Then it got cold, 20 degrees or so, and the unit stopped working or got overwhelmed, and my pond froze over. I have no idea if the fish are alive at this point. Needless to say, the damage is done. Out of frustration I removed the de-icer on the first warmer day but damaged the plastic housing while getting it out. Now it's just waiting for the trash. I'll have to wait for the spring to find out if the fish made it. Bummer.

I needed a new pond deicer for my backyard fish pond, it works great, keeps an opening of about a foot & a half in the ice to allowing my fish to survive the winter freeze.

WE have a 400 gal pond with live fish, The pond froze over during a cold spell and despite my bubbler, i was worried the fish might perish. When this heater was delivered it was placed on the frozen pond with the ice being 2 IN. thick. Within 8 hrs. the pond started to open up and after 24 hrs. we had a large opening

Worked fine from Dec-March, 2021/22 but the following year it started blowing fuses and quit. My conclusion it was not built to last. Corrosion after first year was severe

I'm from Quebec, Canada. Very cold winters here. This thing does its job very well, it keeps a hole in the ice and it works only in freezing conditions because of the thermostat. I use this for several years and my koi and my red fish survived the winter very well.
