It worked great on a 2008 Elantra without any silicone sealant. Make sure to position the thermostat properly and clean the residue from the old gasket.

Why anybody sells a thermostat without a gasket just baffles me but this company got me my thermostat gasket out fast it was accurate and helped me to get my thermostat finally installed

I expected it to have adhesive side to stick to housing. It does not. It is probably made of felt and so far is working fine and not leaking coolant. I used on 2005 Kia Spectra5 thermostat cover. No instructions provided.
