Slapped it together without decking the head. Used a wire wheel and liquor to remove the oil. Still holding up great after two months of daily abuse

Replaced the head gasket on my jeep 4.0 after I found moisture in the oil. The head had warped. I had it machined and bought this gasket based on the recommendations online and the machinist. There is a cheaper one but good grief you do not want to do this job twice to save a few bucks.Fit perfect. Nice heavy duty gasket. No leaks anywhere. I will always use fel-pro gaskets. Be sure to order new head bolts as well. They can be re-used only once but again why not just order new ones.

Fit perfectly on my 1988 RENIX-era Jeep 4.0. Use two pieces of 1/2" threaded rod cut to 4" length in two of the head bolt holes to keep the gasket aligned as you set the head on - at least on RENIX era blocks, there are no dowels in the block to keep the gasket in place. You can struggle with getting it all aligned, but a friend and I lifted the head into place (with manifolds pre-installed) in five minutes using the threaded rod trick. You can buy it in 12" pieces at your local hardware store.

You need a new gasket when you had a HEAD JOB!This is the most durable and resilient head gasket available.These are the ONLY ONES that I'll ever install.The few extra dollars spend now will save you on a blown head gasket later!
