I'm in the process of a specific build and going for exact. This is a Fender-branded guard that has vintage specs. Exactly what I needed.

I got this for a Strat partscaster project that I made fairly closely to early '60s specs, including '60s voiced pickups, vintage taper 250k pots, and a 0.1 uf capacitor. This pickguard was more a style thing--I wanted a mint pickguard, and I know the '62 pickguard is distinguished with one of the mount screw holes set equidistant from the neck and middle pickups. I like that little detail. More modern pickguards have that screw hole set closer to the middle pickup. Not sure why. I like the '62 layout a little better, so I went with this one. It is period correct.Note that the color of the sample image here is kind of misleading. The sample looks a bit yellowed and aged looking, but the actual pickguard is a more subtle shade of mint. I have another Fender pickguard in the same shade of mint on a black Strat, and it's kind of subtle with such a dark color. I got the '62 for a Strat in baby blue, and it really pops out with the pastel color. Also note some of the finishing details. The mount screw holes, pickup screw holes, and switch screw holes are all countersunk, so you can use oval head screws to get the screw heads to sit nice and flush inside the holes. Some aftermarket pickguards don't have these details, so in this case it's worth getting the real deal. Also, there's a small bevel at the base of the neck pocket, supposedly to accommodate adjustment of a truss rod screw at the heel without having to remove the neck, but I'd probably want to carve that out a bit more if I really wanted to use it that way.Sometimes Fender gets their products really right, and this mint '62 spec pickguard is a quality item. I'm glad to have it.

I have purchased many of number 0991343000 for modernized 60s Strat builds. This is a 60s mint green SSS guard with 60s hole spacing, a truss rod cutaway, and countersunk pickup and switch screw holes. It has an aluminum plate on the back instead of tape for the shield. What I received is part number 111260642, which is printed on a "New Item" label stuck over some other label. (If I decide to keep it, I will try to peel the label off to see what the other label says.) It does not have countersunk screw holes and has no shield. It does appear to have 60s screw spacing and does have the truss rod divot.I have a drill press and countersink bit and a few rolls of copper tape, so I can make this work, but this is not what I expected to receive. Did Fender change the part? Or did I just receive something weird? (Admittedly, it has been a few years since I built one of these.)

ok, it is what it is. read the title. it fit perfectly on my 2000 Mexican classic reissue. i paired this with a mint back plate and aged white knobs and pickup covers. this all went on a lake placid blue strat and i'm very happy with it. notice the notch above the neck pup hole. this helps with access to the truss adjust screw. still it's a pain to do. that and the hole pattern are different than a standard strat, so make sure you know the difference. the pick guard is solid and sturdy, definitely not cheaply done.the mint color is really light which makes it seem a bit more relic like. works for me!

I'm building and parting together my own take on a 1962 strat (ok so I was born that year and wanted it done "my way"). It looks great but am trying to tone green down to a gray green by sun tanning it. You need to know what you're buying. It clearly states for a 1962 strat. If it doesn't fit yours maybe you should have read the name a little better. If you know your strat lineage, you'll also know that this year had an almost full size aluminum ground plate. So if your disappointed it doesn't come with a pasted on sheet of aluminum foil perhaps you should have read about the 1962 strat before buying. It is not part of Fenders Pure Vintage line of parts so I suspect it is not celluloid, which I wish it were because they form distinctive character over time as they age. I guess I can't have it all. Overall great product and pairs perfectly without aluminum full size ground plate. Of course only you and your guitar tech will know it's period correct under the hood. Oh, and that notch by the neck certainly simplifies trust rod adjustment if you know how to do it.

I just received this pickguard in Mint green. It had 11 holes as advertised. Initially, I gave a poor rating to this item. This was my fault for not choosing the correct 11 hole version. I apologize to the seller. This is a genuine Fender product. I believe it is for a ‘62 Strat. Double check before purchasing.

It's a Fender. It costs twice as much as most of the others and is probably twice as nice. Nice hard material, well finished. It is the standard by which all others are measured.Being a vintage replacement the eggshell is just right. High gloss would look ridiculous on a vintage instrument. If I had a complaint it might be it is too white but how white it should be is very subjective.
