As others have said, the core wire of this cable is soft and brittle. It's perfect for what it is designed to do, which is carry a high-voltage, low-current circuit under ground. Specifically, under gates in an electric fence. It has a very thick jacket, which protects shorts from the high voltage. This cable has made fence gates far easier for me. Instead of trying to work out a way of connecting and disconnecting the fence at the gate, I just splice onto the cable, run it across the gate underground, and splice back into the middle of the polywire on the far side. I can take part of the wire back and properly electrify the gate, and run the rest on down the fence. Much easier than worrying about handling connections in a hot gate.Just don't forget that it's not made to bend a lot. Figure it out, get it in place with some extra for trimming, and wrap it well. Then leave it alone.Great product!

Been down for 3 months as an experiment with electro culture via electric fence. Pulsed 70,000 volt.Sad to say the experiment failed. But the fence did light me up once! It works also as advertised. So tht proves the ground wire works as advertised.

It is a standard aluminum wire with a high voltage insulation suitable for commercial grade electric fence chargers. It’s best application is running under ground, under gates and around the outside of a building from the charger to the regular uninsulated electric fence wire.It is not intended to be used as a dog tether as the first customer confessed to doing before leaving a one star review!

For electric fence underground, works well.

Good insulation for high voltage, I forgot how soft and brittle aluminum wire is. It’s great for undisturbed placement but cut your ends long, you will likely nic and break off your connection point at least once. If your application will require connecting and reconnecting numerous times I would spend the extra dollars and go with copper.
