I’ve been using the LOCHBY A5 Notebook with the 68gsm Tomoe River paper, and it’s honestly one of the best notebooks I’ve used for writing. The paper is smooth as butter, and if you’re into fountain pens like I am, this paper’s a dream. No bleed-through, no feathering—just clean, crisp lines every time. Whether I’m jotting down notes or just writing for the fun of it, it feels like the pen and paper are working together. The notebook itself is well-made, sturdy, and fits nicely in my bag without getting damaged. If you want a notebook that handles fountain pens like a pro, this one’s definitely worth the investment!

Great little notebook with paper that does not bleed with fountain pens.

At $10 a pop, these aren’t the cheapest blank notebooks around to use as your day-to-day notebook, but they are really pretty solid.I’m moving to sequential monthly notebooks versus on giant one. At the end of the year, I’ll ask my craftish kid to bind them together in a single volume. The paper weight (68 gsm) is better than the Tomoe River 52 gsm used in Hobonichi’s (sp?) line up which means much less show-through when writing with a very wet ink, or with a stub/italic fountain pen nib, of which I do both. Zero feathering, but absorbent enough to be quick-drying.Net net, the right notebook choice for my purposes. Get the price to $7.99 for 1, $19.99 for a 3-pack and this probably becomes a quarterly subscription for me.

I have been bullet journaling and handwriting notes since 2017. I have tried every boutique notebook brand Instagram has to offer - Leuchtturm1917, Moleskine, Rhodia, Baron Fig, Code&Quill, Northbooks, STM, Maruman and others. Nothing was truly perfect. Then I stumbled across Lochby. It ticks every box. Multiple layouts for multiple uses (I prefer dot grid but you're not limited), consistent dot grid pattern, grid is not too light, paper is bright white, takes WET fountain pen ink like a champ, and paper is not obnoxiously thick. The only thing I would ask Lochby for is a black cover option, and possibly a hardcover option with more sheets. Small complaints for how dreamily this stuff writes. Tomoe River paper bound and packaged this way is a dream come true. Hope to see even more format options in the future.

The planner notebook I received initially was physically damaged. I requested a return and received a replacement the next day before I even made the return. I was really impressed and the replacement planner is immaculate. It is free of printed dates so I can use it whenever I want with no pressure. I’ll be back.

Got it. Started writing in it and getting ready to start the month. Well the pages are wrong in the weeks. Some are cut short and upside down. Terrible quality control and they should be disappointed that this slipped out. Would not recommend. Horrible value.

I use this to jot down my thoughts throughout the day and is very fountain pen friendly.

Not much to say about this one - the paper and construction quality is good and it's a perfect notebook to add to my rather large stack of notebooks. It's a little on the pricey side but I still would get another without real hesitation.
