I wish I knew about these sooner! I had to replace my back fireplace wall the year before and a crack formed on it after 1 season. It is not a cheap repair. So I bought this and love it. It helps protect the fireplace back wall and projects heat to the room. This is an age ole item. They used them centries ago. Thick and well made. My fireplace is small. I had to reverse the holders so I'd have more room. I think this will help everything. I highly suggest this product.

I was impressed by the size and quality of this plate. Even though it is solid iron, I was surprised at how heavy it was — take care when installing it! It looks great and really retains and radiates the heat well. We are very pleased with our investment to help improve the warmth in our living room.

It is very heavy and was hard to get into the fire box. But that is what I wanted, something to protect the back of the firebox. I placed it by myself but it would not hurt to have a second person to help.

Good product, but not made out of cast iron. It appears to be made out of plate steel. The trim portion on the surface is riveted and has some gaps; not a functional problem. Legs are cast iron.

This has really helped heat our family room with high ceilings. It definitely puts out more heat now with the backer. Very heavy!

I have a fireplace that is not very efficient but this is a great help producing more heat.I installed it as specified and it did take a bit for it to warm up and produce heat but it works really well.Highly reccomend.
