The particular Fiskars model shears with the open-top-handle is really GREAT! I compared it against one of Fiskars' other models (selling out of the same Amazon listing) with fully closed loops for both the top and bottom of the handle, and this one is quite superior, providing more leverage while cutting, therefore it's easier on your hand and muscles, AND more effective at cutting. Plus, the blades are SHARP, and strong.The other Fiskars model wasn't bad at all, it was quite good, it's just that this one is significantly better; and its greater ease of cutting is quite noticeable and comes in handy when cutting cardboard boxes, as I do (from Amazon deliveries!). This design with the open top handle and the wide-loop bottom handle (the latter allows more fingers to hold it) not only provides more cutting leverage, but allows you to get whatever material you're cutting out of your way as you cut further and further into it.I also compared this item with yet another set of shears, that one purchased at Home Depot (made by Wiss), but it was definitely a nice set of shears that did a good job. It's just that this Fiskars model clearly does a better job-- it cuts better, cuts thicker materials, and is much easier to cut with, with more leverage, therefore easier on your hand.I don't know how long these Fiskars will last, what with the open, uncovered spring that I wonder if it might become detached, but I bought three of these-- two more after being so pleased with the first one-- and they all three work equally great.By the way, there is a little plastic piece at the bottom of the handle that locks the two-piece handle together so that the blades stay together when stored. (I can see where that lock could easily become undone, however, but so far, that hasn't happened to me.)This is really a phenomenal product, and I can not only cut through thick cardboard boxes with it (I much prefer using this to a box cutter), I can also cut through double-thickness of those boxes when necessary; though there is a bit more difficulty then.I highly recommend this product for its intended uses. And don't let the unusual look of the handle scare you away-- it's actually one of the great features on this set of shears.(By the way, I was drawn to look at Fiskars shears in the first place by reading some other reviewer's recommendation for them!!-- although, of all places, it was in an Amazon review of a set of screwdrivers, where the reviewer was commenting how difficult it was to open that package of screwdrivers with all of the clear plastic glued to cardboard, but that these Fiskars shears made it a lot easier! Reading that screwdriver set review resulted in my buying three pairs of these Fiskars shears!)

These are the very best scissors for cutting dense or metalized fabrics. I work with Xcluder which is a dense type if steel wool. I've always struggled to find a way to cut it. Regular scissors work for the first inch and then bind up and soon the blade gets dull. Tin snips and other kinds of metal working tools don't work well on anything except a stiff sheet. But wow these scissors easily cut through the Xcluder perfectly.The hand grips are big and comfortable. The blades are serrated so they hold and cut cleanly and don't push the material away from the scissors. The blades are firm and strong with no play nor gap.They turned a frustrating chore into an enjoyable craft exercise.A good tool is well worth having and these are excellent work scissors.

These scissors are so durable. I was surprised how well they did cutting! They cut these stone veneer tiles very easily. Easy to grip too.

These are heavy duty high quality shears. My husband uses them all the time in the shop to cut everything from cardboard to thin metal. He likes them alot. They are a bit big for my female hands but if I wear gloves when using they are easier to use. Not my favorite shear but they're good if you have man hands.

Im a truck driver flat bed. My straps each are rated for 5,400 lbs. these scissors cut through them like butter. Not even razor blades or knives work without alot of effort. We use these to cut old straps for edge guards and they are amazing. This is my second pair and still using my first pair. Trust me no other scissor can touch these at all. I tried everything even for alot more money!

This is a great tool. I used these in the garden to cut chicken wire, that I used around my raised garden beds to keep the squirrels out of my raised beds. It was like using a pair of scissors to cut chicken wire. The handle is very comfortable and the blades are slightly serrated so they easily cut a sheet of wire. It made my job alot easier and not hard on my hands. Good product for the price. I'll buy again if needed.
