my old muffler was pretty restrictive and created back pressue in my exhaust system so I put this flowmaster 40 series muffler on my 03 dakota and it sounds awesome. this muffler is a little more aggressive than I thought it would be. the sound is really nice and it is a loud muffler. before I put my tailpipe back on there wasn't much of a difference in sound between this muffler and an open collector. but once I got my tailpipe back on it killed all of the resonance in the cab which is good because at first the drone in the cab was distressing and it was really loud. but now the sound level is perfect and this truck has a pretty mean exhaust note. out of luck this muffler actually lines up pretty close to the stock system. the only issue was it was a few inches too short and I had to put some extra piping in there to make up the difference and don't mind all of the foil tape, that was just to help keep it sealed until everything settled into place.

I had the suitcase muffler removed and kept the resonator in place for about 4 years. The sound was loud but raspy and not the deep rumble I was looking for. After reviewing lots of video on youtube, and reading reviews and reviews, I went with two flowmaster 40 series, deleted the reso's and....it's day and night compare to my old set up. The cold start-up is loud, aggressive and deep. They do have drone around 1750 to 1900 rpms, but it's easily bearable. My wife and kid didn't complaint on the three hours drive we did the other day. Once you're on cruising speed, the cabin noise is really low. But when you step on it, it's a neck breaker!! I had them installed at a muffler shop since it had a lot of customs tubing to be done. Out of the box, I repainted the mufflers since they were a few scratches that bothered me, but it was minor. I don't regret a single minute my installation, and I always get complemented on my car sound.

Not exactly "best bang for your buck" because a pair of flowmaster 40 series isn't budget friendly. Two hundred ish for just the pair of cans. But.. NOT JUST ANY OLD CANS! These authentic Flowmasters really sound deeper AND more aggressive than ANY OTHER OPTIONS. If you can afford them, buy them. You'll thank me later.

Put this on my 2006 dodge Dakota 4.7L V8. Tone that came out the exhaust was nice and deep in low rpms. Backfired (pops and bangs) after reving. 100% would recommend. Welds weren’t the best and wasn’t paint but its holding up well in salty Chicago weather.

For what your paying it's not to bad. It's best for those who are looking for a proper muffler replacement but don't wanna sound obnoxious. The tone of the muffler is more aggressive but no crazy loud. It's pretty close to stock with a deeper rumble. I recommend it.

I put it on my 2005 F150 with the 5.4 Triton engine and it gives a deep rumble with very little in cabin droning. All I had to do was cut out the stock muffler and with a small extension pipe (about 16 inches) and a couple of u-bolts it was good to go. The muffler I received was not black as stated however it’s underneath the truck anyways so it doesn’t really matter.

I love Flowmaster mufflers. They have ia mild throaty sound that is not too loud, improve performance, torque and mileage as well. I currently have one on our Honda Element and GMC V6 pickup. Along with a high flow air filter system I see 2-4 mpg increase and better driveability. Fully welded thick steel means they last a long time. The advanced baffle system does not burn out like performance mufflers with packing. Overall, a great quality product worth the price.

I currently drive a vehicle that has the Triton 5.4L V8, along with a K&N cold air intake kit. So it was time to choose a muffler to let this engine exhale. I chose the Flowmaster 40 series muffler. And boy does it sound great! I also gained horse power too! Careful on the gas, as you'll easily find out you can break the tires loose !

What's to say it's a flowmaster makes everything sound better potentially will make your fuel mileage go down listening to your vehicle roar

Fit nicely sounds good but had to get tailpipe specially made at a muffler shop gives a nice rumble on my 98 Dodge Dakota sport V6 magnum rear wheel drive.
