Probiotic is also added to help breakdown organic waste in your pet's enclosure. One very important element in keeping land hermit crabs alive in captivity is to fill your crab's tank with sand deep enough (minimum depth of 3 times the size of their shell) and moist enough (packs well) that your largest crab is able to bury completely to molt successfully.

My hermit crabs love this sand. One bag covered the bottom of my 10 gallon tank perfectly and they have room to dig under the sand layer.

My two children got 4 Hermit Crabs while we were at the beach two years ago. We came home and purchased a large terrarium for them and purchased this sand.After much research, this brand/sand is highly recommended and helps the crabs to thrive. We have been purchasing this for a little of 2 year regularly to replace when we clean their terrarium and the Hermit Crabs are still alive and loving it.For the price I am happy with the amount I receive and benefits it has.

We used this in our bearded dragons enclosure. Nice and clean. A bit moist but dries out quickly in the heated enclosure!
