Fluker's packaging is very basic and doesn't go overboard trying to sell its product by how the packaging looks....But inside the packaging is a good quality moss that stays green, holds moisture, and looks great in a vivarium/ terrarium type setup... Whatever your project is that requires moss this product will do very nicely.A lot of reviewers are saying that this is dyed green and has a chemical smell to it but I can assure you that the smell is just the funky smell moss makes when it's sealed in a bag and the smell quickly dissipates... I contacted fluker's directly and they said "Hi! It is live moss, It should be fine after misting it! And it's totally natural without any dyes!" ... So that's my email response right from the company...As soon as you open the bag you'll smell the dried moss which is kind of funky. But then you should put it in a container and soak it in warm water and swish it around with your hands to start cleaning it. The moss is very dirty as it's grown in soil and you may need to rinse it multiple times before the water becomes a little more clear... After you clean it you can get straight to your projects and design your masterpiece and that smell will go away and as you see from my pictures it looks natural, acts natural and in time grows together and becomes a solid patch of moss. Mist it every day to keep it alive and growing. It doesn't stay bright green after getting it wet and letting it grow as you see it the pictures.Any leftover moss can stay wet for days unless you spread it out. After it's completely dry you can put it in a jar to use at a later date. I have a lot of projects around the house so I just used it with my other plants and used it up.Don't be afraid of the reviews it's cheap enough to give it a shot and I think you'll agree it works well... I will definitely be ordering again in about 6 months when I need to deep clean my five line skinks bioactive vivarium

It's a good size for the price. Works good for leopard geckos. Holds humidity well. Color makes it more realistic.

So much cheaper than buying at a pet store. It is dyed I believe, because I added water and the water was green. I don't love this but I'm not sure if that's abnormal for moss to be dyed

I felt the need to write a review after reading so many bad reviews about this moss. The reviews stated this moss was dyed and it stained items in their enclosure. Knowing that when I got the moss I soaked some in hot water to see if it would turn the water green. After about 30 minutes I checked the water. The water was tinted just a little, to the point that it was hard to tell it was even tinted green at all. If this item was dyed the water would have been a darker green and it wasn’t. People even said the dye ran everywhere and dyed all of the decorations it touched. This moss will not dye anything. I love the color, so if it is dyed then I don’t mind. I’m sure this company would not risk their reputation by using a dye that would harm your animals. All in all I think this moss is pretty good. I’m glad I don’t listen to what people say and like to see for myself. I will definitely be buying this moss again.

I use this in one of my leopard gecko's hides for moisture. Just wet it every so often and it stays moist for quite a while. When it starts to turn a bit brownish, I just replace it. My leo loves to lay on it. This huge package is lasting me forever too. lol Definitely worth the price for the quantity.

I'd give this 4.5 stars if possible taking off 1/2 for the unnatural dark green color. I washed the moss first thing in very warm water. There was very little bleeding of green but the moss was definitely very dirty and a wash did it good as well as add the humidity I was looking for once wrung out. As you can see in the picture, the water had very little green color to it so if die was used, it doesn't come off easily.

This moss is very good for terrariums, decor, or even as a pole for your plants. I used this for a plant party where we all made terrariums & I still had so much left after as it seems to expand!

It’s nice moss hold moisture well. The vibrant green scares me alittle especially after it’s wet it gets brown, but it has a strong smell to it as well. It works I just won’t buy it again for my lizards
