These socks are a goodbye. The amount of wool is perfect. They are soft somewhat padded and warm. My six-year-old son has been using them for skiing and loves them. I will say I think they fit a little small so we did size up and they fit perfect.

These socks are fantastic, especially for the price! They are soooo soft on the inside. I bought these for me and my sons (we wear about the same size) for a trip in October to West Virginia - white water rafting, hiking, etc. Merino wool is the way to go for socks, period, especially for these activities as they are moisture wicking, they dry quickly, will keep your feet warm when it's cold and cool when it's hot.

I got these merino wool socks in a size 6-8 for my grandson to use through the coming cold days of winter since he spends quite a bit of time outdoors and they are getting their first snow tonight. Warmth is important . I am very impressed with the quality of the socks. It begins with the fiber blend of merino wool, nylon and elastic (or as we typically hear it called, spandex, which is expands backwards). Each of those materials in the weave have unique qualities which make them beneficial for making socks. The Merino wool is probably the most important in creating a good thermally warm sock and the 75% content is great since it will help retain body heat even if it gets damp. These socks have good thickness as well, so although I don't see a thicker heel there is quite a lot of cushion woven into that area. That will help when they are used in playing outside all day long as only boys can play. These are not tube socks that have no form for the foot. These have a formed heel region that ensures the stock stays positioned correctly on the foot the way it was knit to be.

I absolutely hate wearing socks and shoes, but I also am one of those people whose feet are cold ALL the time. My sister-in-law lives in Illinois and swears by wool socks. When I saw this set I thought I would go for it and try them out. Why did I wait so long? These socks keep my feet warm, but my feet never feel sweaty and gross in them. They are super soft and move with me with no uncomfortable bunching or shifting. I have very small feet for an adult and the kids size fit me just right. I am planning a rim-to-rim hike at the Grand Canyon next year with my sister and have heard wool socks are the way to go for that. I have begun testing these out on 5-10 mile hikes at our local state park and am beyond impressed. These are holding up well to the hikes and to the washings afterward. These are top quality.
