This is a good kit. It is so very much worth the few extra dollars it costs relative to the cheapest kits. I saw no hint of the digitizer grid lines mentioned by another reviewer. It comes with almost all the tools you need and some written instructions. In addition, I found it essential to look at a couple of online how-to-do-it videos and to print and to read a written document you can find on the web: The Ultimate iPad Mini Repair Post. For a heat source, I found glue guns did not work but a hair dryer did. Additional tools used included a couple of exacto knives (use sparingly as noted in the Repair Post). The two long heat shield screws go on the left side near the bottom. Be compulsive about cleaning up the old adhesive: I alternated using alcohol and Goo Gone with Q-tips, plus scraping. My old digitizer was badly broken and I did not learn until too late that I should have put clear packing tape on it before starting. That would have saved a lot of glass bits all over the place. I'm very handy but the process took me and my son about four hours...be patient and you'll have a functional ipad again!

Overall this product worked really well and I highly recommend it if you have time and patience. Luckily I read through a bunch of reviews before installing, which helped a great deal. The most important advice is to make a plan for repairing damaged metal corners after removing the broken digitizer and before installing the new one, because if you don’t you will go through this whole process and not be able to install the new digitizer or will break it if you try to force it on with bent corners. The directions are small print and not as helpful as YouTube videos. I used the iCracked video and it worked perfectly. I watched the video all the way through once before starting and then replayed it as I worked on it as well. This product comes with almost everything you need. The only extra things I needed were disposable nitrile gloves, goo-gone, rubbing alcohol, safety glasses/goggles (to protect against shards of glass that pop off when removing the old digitizer), cotton balls, magnet (I just used a regular fridge magnet to hold the tiny screws), and a hair dryer. It took me approximately 2 hours to complete the process with zero prior experience.

The gist: the kit is about 85% complete, the glass is easy to install, and it all works well.I'd almost give this kit 5 stars except for a few salient omissions: the lack of instructions, and a couple of parts which I think should have been included. There are no instructions included in the kit, and the ones in this listing are garbage. Look to other sources for how to replace the digitizer.Everything that is included is of adequate quality, and everything was useful. I needed to provide a heat gun and safety glasses (do wear safety glasses, prescription glasses would work just as well, or a face shield--i had little pieces of glass pinging me in the face as I removed the very cracked digitizer). All told the replacement took me 3 hours to complete. I followed instructions on the iFixit site; there were a few discrepancies but fairly trivial ones, and it included many tips, cautions, and comments, in addition to the directions, that were more than adequate to make the repair fairly easy. As I mentioned, the glass was a mess of cracks, I covered the screen with a couple of layers of packaging tape to hold the majority of shards together as I worked. Once the glass was off everything went pretty smoothly. The two things which I think should have been included are adhesive and gloves. The glass is taped down, and at least in my case, the tape is almost impossible to recover. The gloves would make keeping the screen and glass free of finger prints. Both would be pretty cheap.

This is a high quality replacement screen and comes with almost everything you need for a successful repair. First of all, screen replacement on the ipad mini is not for the faint at heart. If you are not careful you can further damage your ipad. I say the kit has "almost" everything you need because I feel that the screen does not have enough insulating tape on the bottom of the screen near the home button. The insulation is very important to prevent "ghost touches." My suggestion is to remove as much tape as possible from the original digitizer and transfer it to the new digitzer. If you have kapton tape then that will work as well. My kit did not come with a suction cup but I did not need it since my original screen was cracked. The metal blade and tweezers are great and the reason why I purchased this kit versus the cheaper ones. Before you begin the repair, I highly recommend that you watch several videos on YouTube on how to replace the screen. I found the videos by "iCracked" and "Go Cell Phone Repair" to be most helpful. Before attaching the screen to the ipad, make sure that the glue strips on the side of the screen are properly aligned. The glue on my new screen was slightly off but I was able to lift it and realign with the tweezers. It should be as close as possible to the edge to create a good seal. Don't forget the magnets on the corners. Take your time and have fun. It took me 4 hours to complete but this was my first time.

I am very happy with this seller and the product; the screen was delivered in a padded envelope which was folded in half by the post man !!!! no fault of the seller - but they replaced it at once. Excellent seller - do not hesitate to use them. A full set of decent tools are supplied - you only need a hairdryer. My screen was totally shattered but the LCD worked so I went for the black replacement screen and the screen works perfectly now - sadly my LCD was seated rather deeply within the case (possibly after the pressure of the fall onto its face) and it cracked while using a plectrum along the edge to release it ...so please take heed and use dental floss to release the glue under the LCD, without putting any pressure on it at all. Thread a long piece of dental floss under each corner of the LCD and once it is underneath then slide it down towards the bottom, stopping about an inch off the bottom as there are connections there that you don't want to break - if only I had tried that first I would now have a perfect ipad again - *sigh*

The screen has so far has held up well. Cannot tell the difference between it and the original. My kit did not come with the instructions. But there was tons of videos on YouTube, so that didn’t bother me to much. Adhesive over all is nice, but where the corner had damage there was bent metal. I did get it to fit back on nicely, but that corner did lift up. I feel if the adhesive was a just a little more sticky it would of been no problem. Seeing how broken screens usually happen from drops etc. I feel it would make the most sense to go with a stronger adhesive for the replacement screen vs original.

This worked like a charm. After buying one from another amazon supplier that didn’t work I tried this one and problem solved. Read the instructions first, organise your self and do it slowly! The only thing you need that isn’t supplied is an adhesive remover swab to clean off old adhesive, I got that off eBay.
