Son plays viola and requested a mute that did not vibrate when not in use, but still on the viola. He tired several, but this one was the definite winner.

I'm a professional violist. Love this mute! Slides on and off bridge in nothing flat, mutes sufficiently, doesn't rattle on strings. Got them for our cellos, too.

The mute looks as expected, and is functional, but it is very light and has very narrow grooves for the strings to rest in. As a result, the mute is very hard to move quickly to the bridge and is awkward to perform with.

It dosen't change the sound of my viola. I didn't like it. Maybe my expectations were too high.
