I developed the dreaded 6r80 bulkhead sleeve leak and decided to swap out the old sleeve when I did a transmission fluid change that was due. I was hoping for a quick and easy swap, but like somany others I had a really hard time getting the white clip to slide back up after inserting the new sleeve. The o rings are a lot fatter and even pushing the sleeve in with allthe pressure I could apply with one hand ,I couldn't get the clip to slide up back into place. After about an hour of frustration I finally got the clip up but I had to push the clip with much more force than I think was safe to do. I got everthing back together, reinserted the cable plug and took it for a test ride. It ran great and I have no leaks but after about 100 miles the dashboard wrench came on and and basically the dash indicators started going crazy. I got multiple U codes which are for the transmission so I got under the truck and inspected the sleeve and it seemed to be in where it should be and I couldn't pull it out. I flipped the plug locking lever up cleaned the plug and wiped out the inside of the bulkhead sleeve, and the pins looked ok. Put the plug back in and this time the locking lever went down easily and further and clicked into plac e. I'm sure because of all the grit and dirt it didn't go down all the way the first time and the pins were not securley engaged. If you install a sleeve and start getting these symtoms check the plug first because if the locking lever is up even a small amount the pins will not engage properly and you'll get all kinds of codes telling you there's no commuication between the transmission and the PCM. 2009 f150 runs great now with no leaks and my first 7 quarts swapped out. I installed an aftermarket dipstick for this truck a while back and although it was expensive it makes refilling the tranmission so much easier as you can do it old style from the engine compartment and check the level frequntly as you fill and anytime after that.

This fit my 2017 F150 6 speed transmission perfectly. This is a must replace part if you are replacing the lead frame.

The Chinese knock offs are everywhere but this is a genuine Ford part so you know it will fit correctly.

Install was a challenge to get the new sleeve seated far enough to allow the plastic clip to slide up into place. Struggled for a while pushing as hard as I could. Then used a 2x2 inch piece of wood, about 12 inches long, placed against the sleeve and lightly tapped it with a hammer. After a few taps, the clip slid into place easily. Also, I didn't need to apply upward force to the clip while tapping; the sleeve is a tight enough fit that it stayed seated while I put down the implements and got a hand free to push the clip up.
