I use a Step Drill bit more often than ever these days. But I needed smaller ones.- The small one has 13 steps. The Medium sized one has 12 steps.- Comes in a presentation that is shelf-worthy in my opinion.- The container is useful. Not only is it excellent for holding the bit, but it also goes on a Peg Board really well too.- Durability built in (TiAlN Coating, and CoM35 HSS (Cobalt M35) steel.- Competitive pricing. If they can handle drilling steel, then these are priced very well.> The durability features will be put to the test. I drill into steel pretty often and we will see just how good these are. For the money, if they hold up then they will be great value.> While the steps are actually marked on the side of the drill bit, I think I am going to need glasses to read the numbers. You can probably see this in the pictures.I will update this, as I usually have about 1 good drilling project every month. For now, I will leave it at 5 stars, first impression.

I got this because I am building the interior in my vehicle to be a little more custom. I wanted to be able to drill out some mounting points for interior panels to be able to accommodate different size plastic clips. Without this bit I would have had to have kept switching back and forth between different sized drill bits for the different holes that I was Drilling. I was only drilling plastic and will only probably ever be using this on plastic and maybe some wood, so I can't honestly comment about how it will hold up versus any types of metal, but for me it's exactly what I needed and I feel like I'll continue to get a lot of use out of it in the future.

It looks nice and it is made of cobalt and I have never had any real cobalt bit, that was not a been a great bit. Cobalt coating or even worse titanium coating steer far clear of as they just Suck and say it to have the name. Also so everyone can learn that does not know.. You drill steel at a slower speed and slower feed than wood. As you get deeper down this bit and it starts becoming a bigger hole you need to increase pressure but decrease drill speed. 99% of all drill bits I see burned up are from abuse and not knowing how to use them. People assume faster the better.. Give it more power!.. They Say!! Once these bits or any bit ger hot the hardness goes and tuffness. I expect this bit will last me a good long time!!

This cobalt flute that has cut through anything that I've thrown at it. Whether it's plastic, wood, steel and aluminum. As a custom fabrication specialist I work with many different materials and this bit is very handy to have for installing switches or needing something to put variable size holes in Materials. I have use this bit already a few dozen times and it is just as sharp as the day I came in the mail. Overall I highly recommend it and I am impressed how's Sharp this thing has stayed over dozens of uses.

Item: "Four Spiral Flute Cobalt Step Drill Bit, 1/8" - 1/2" M35 TiAlN Coating Impact Ready Unibit Step Drill Bit, 1/4" Hex Shank Step Bit for Metal, Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Plastic "Price: $14.99I like the size of this bit. Its sharp enough to do the job, but the job I had wasn't anything hardened. It looks like something that will last for a decent while.I took measurements of the steps of the bit, and as they advertise, you can drill up to 3mm, in fact, you can get a bit more out of it. Also, if you go from both sides, you could get 6mm or more. Pretty nice for this size bit.

These spiral flute cobalt step drill bits are surprisingly good for the price. I needed a set for some metalworking projects, and these handled the job well. The TiAlN coating seemed to help maintain sharpness and resist the dreaded "grab" you get with cheaper bits, which was a plus point. One thing though, they weren't as "easy" as some step drills I've used with thinner materials; they seemed to require slightly more pressure and technique, which will be dependent on the material being drilled. The 1/4" hex shank is a useful fit for most drill presses, making them fairly versatile. In my opinion, they're solid performers for the price and I'll likely reach for them again if I need step drills for those moderately-tough materials.
